GOMA, Congo (AP) — More than 4 million children have lost at least one parent in Congo over the past two decades, the silent victims of continuous cycles of violence.
And more than 26 million orphans live in West and Central Africa, where Congo is located — the second highest number in the world behind South Asia, according to the United Nations.
These children have grown up amid conflict fueled by ethnic strife and the fight over valuable minerals. The violence and displacement are eroding the tradition of families caring for their own.
The breakdown in family means some orphans are forced to look after themselves and their younger siblings. Some are vulnerable to recruitment by armed groups. And many also face sexual exploitation, in a country where rape has become commonplace on the streets.

Maybe Hillary, Bill & Chelsea could send them a few bucks. Very few.
Not our problem.
So what, not my kid, not my neighbors kid, and certainly not an American! When every kid in my country is well fed, clothed, and schooled, then lets see if we got anything left for foreigners.
NOT OUR PROBLEM! (all caps makes me feel better)
Seeing that they get MILLIONS from us, I am not sure why the pity party. I feel bad for the kids but when does the guilt end? We have homeless children here..
Bill Clinton got $100,000 for a "speech" to a Congo mining company. And then there was the $650,000 offer by the Congolese government for another, along with some 8x10 color glossies of him and government officials.
Between the clintons and the UN. This should have been taken care of already.
The African people who have converted to muslim are the most violent people in the world. They kill with no mercy , they kill with pitchforks and other knife like weapons . They kill any and all in their path. Obama your only legacy that will be remembered , African foreign policy , your famous culture .
Of course we all know that these people have been fighting for thousands of years and selling their people for slaves for 5,000 years , a wonderful culture , wouldn't you say?
Why can't these children be put up for adoption in US there are lots of people in this country wanting children and would give them good homes.
