Incident: Thefts from Motor Vehicles
Date of Incident: 22 October 2016

Suspect: Elijah I. Sutton, 18, Salisbury, MD
Narrative: On 22 October 2016 at 0700hrs, a deputy from the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office began an investigation into a rash of thefts from motor vehicles is the south Salisbury area. During the investigation, the deputy received a description of the individual seen inside a vehicle in the 1500 block of Laurel Drive and was able to locate him walking on an adjacent street. Following an investigation and interview of this suspect, identified as Elijah Sutton, the deputy concluded he was the individual seen entering the vehicles. During the investigation the deputy determined that Sutton was involved in all of the break in’s to the vehicles that had been reported. The deputy recovered items from the backpack carried by Sutton that were identified as some of the items stolen.
The deputy placed Sutton under arrest and transported him to the Central Booking Unit where he was processed and taken in front of the District Court Commissioner. Following an initial appearance, the Commissioner detained Sutton in the Detention Center in lieu of $5,000.00 bond.
At this time it is believed that there may have been other individuals involved in this crime as well as possible unidentified victims. Anyone who may have information about this incident or who believes they may also have been a victim is asked to contact the Sheriff’s Office at 410-548-4891. Charges: Trespass, Theft under $1,000.00 and Rogue and Vagabond (11 counts)
