SEOUL, South Korea -- U.S. Ambassador Mark Lippert was hospitalized after being attacked Thursday morning in Seoul, the State Department said.
South Korea's Yonhap news agency said the attack took place around 7:40 a.m. at the Sejong Cultural Center during an event called "The peace and unification of the Korean peninsula, and the future of South Korea-U.S. relations."
Local media reported that a man slashed Lippert with a small blade before being detained by security personnel. YTN TV showed a picture of the ambassador bleeding from the head and wrist.
Lippert was being treated at a local hospital, the State Department said in a statement. His injuries were not life-threatening.

Maybe if BO didn't go on vacation so often we could afford some protection for our Ambassadors.
