Sussex County Drug Unit Arrests Three in Rehoboth Area Drug Investigation

Rehoboth Beach, DE – The Delaware State Police Sussex County Drug Unit have arrested three people after the culmination of a four month long investigation into illegal drug sales from a residence on Spruce Road in Pine Valley Mobile Home Park.

On Monday March 2, 2015 around 7:3 a.m., the Sussex County Drug Task Force along with the assistance of the Sussex County Governor’s Task Force (GTF) and Delaware State Police Special Operations Response Team (SORT) conducted a search warrant in the 35000 block of Spruce Road. Upon executing the search warrant, Djuan Sheppard, 27 (Photo attached - green sweatshirt), and Karen M. Reale, 38 (Photo attached) both of the Spruce Street address, and David L. Harris, 43 (Photo attached - red sweatshirt) of Rehoboth Beach, were taken into custody inside the home. The search revealed a total of 220 bags of heroin weighing approximately 3.3 grams and 1.6 gram of cocaine. Also located and recovered in Sheppard’s car was a .380 caliber handgun that was reported stolen in an October 2014 burglary from a residence on Sweetbriar Road in Lewes.

All three subjects were transported back to Troop 4 in Georgetown where they were charged accordingly.

Djuan Sheppard was charged with Possession with Intent to Deliver Heroin, Possession with Intent to Deliver Cocaine, Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited, Possession of a Controlled Substance (Heroin), Receiving a Stolen Firearm, and two counts of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. He was arraigned at JP2 and is being held at Sussex Correctional Institution on $43,000.00 secured bond.

Karen Reale was charged with Maintaining a Drug Property. She was arraigned at JP2 and released on $2,000.00 unsecured bond.

David Harris, who attempted to hide in the bathroom of the residence, was charged with Resisting Arrest and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. He was arraigned at JP2 and incarcerated at SCI on $2,000.00 secured bond.
