Was a teenager’s makeup a “disguise,” or an expression of personal freedom stifled by the government?
That’s the question a lawsuit filed Tuesday aims to settle.
Chase Culpepper, 16, was born into a male body, but he considers himself “gender non-conforming” and lives much of his life in women’s clothing and makeup (although he still reportedly prefers male pronouns).
In March, Chase went to the Department of Motor Vehicles office in Anderson, South Carolina to get his driver’s license, but as the New York Daily News reported, DMV staff made Chase remove his makeup to get his license photo taken because, with the makeup on, he did not look like “a boy should.”

who cares
You were born a male... So you are MALE
He needs therapy.
Oh for crying out loud. Make transgender a choice on his/her license. These poor souls have enough problems.
Not to worry, the rainbow warriors will be on this like odor on a skunk.

You are an idiot you liberal soft hearted POS moron!! People like you make me puke!!
If men go into the DMV and have a full beard they have to go back in and have their pictures taken if they shave that beard. The picture is used to identify a person. If this BOY doesn't like the rules he can walk instead of driving. The same thing happened a few years ago with a muslim. Unless they can see your face to identify you then you can not get a license.
If this boy wears makeup on a daily basis, then the picture would reflect his true image if stopped by the police.
Women wear makeup all the time to "disguise" their look. Believe me, you're not going to see me in a picture without makeup on, especially when I wear it everyday.
South Carolina. Where they still call strange people strange. No matter how pretty you look.
It is a sad state in the USA when this is news! It makes me wonder if we are doomed!
