SALISBURY, Md.- Authorities have arrested a music teacher at Salisbury Christian School accused in connection with sexual abuse of a minor.
The Wicomico Bureau of Investigation arrested 41-year-old Lee Mayers and charged her with multiple counts of sexual abuse of a minor.
Mayers is accused of having a prolonged relationship with a 17-year-old male student who attends the school.

I am a parent of a student that attends Salisbury Christian School and am very disappointed that I had to see this on the internet rather than the school contacting parents, especially when my child is 17.

Before you jump to conclusions...this teacher may be innocent. My brother was a teacher and accused of the same thing and was arrested. No proof of anything, just the kid's word. Then the kid confessed to making the whole thing up because she was mad at him for something school related. He won't even go near children now. It's a sick world out there. It may very well be true but let's remember to look at both sides...

That is just plain wrong! Especially in a Christian School. A friend of mine's son attends this school. How could this woman look a parent in the eye when being complimented knowing what she has done???? Students have to go through extensive interviews to be accepted to this school. Do the teachers?

My grandson will be graduating from Salisbury Christian School in May. This school is absolutely one of the very best and if it has not been released to the public this morning, i am certain they have very good reason. As 3:01 stated, this has to be proven in court so let us not judge before the facts come out. How sad for all involved. I am sure when my grandson comes home today he will have already been informed before leaving school. They are very caring at SCS. Well you might say Private schools are not better than public, but that will always be up for public debate.
I know there are a lot of sick adults out there that prey on children....but kids today aren't as innocent as we were growing up. It's very sad.

This is ridiculous. I am a student at SCS and i just can't believe this. Me and my friend both find his extremely offensive. If this is true then i just can't see how such a great person could do this. Don't judge the school because of this it is still an amazing place and you learn alot. Her 2 sons go to school there... it could be a fight between her kids and a failing classmate. No one KNOWS the facts, only the mouthing of a minor; and I am well experienced in that crap!
I, as a parent of a student there, was informed at 4:30 pm. It was a well thought explanation that included proper instructions as to how to handle the situation with our kids. I'm sure, under the circumstances, it took some time to figure out how to do this in the right way. Well done.

This is the only first stage of this situation. The facts are still not known; but every aspect of the teacher's integrity, family, profession have been ruined. If she is proven 100% innocent there will still be people who will not accept it. I am sure her family, friends, and church will stand by her. It is evident that some of the people who have made comments on this story need to take another look at their comments and realize just how ignorant they are. They are certainly not role models for anyone, and in fact seem to have as low self esteem as their comments reflect.

For what its worth, I was told they had been investigating this for weeks. I don't believe someone went to a Commissioners Office and filed a complaint but I could be wrong. This was handled through the proper authorities and an arrest was made. They have something.

Let me assure you, the comments that were coming in that were way out of line I rejected. Trust me on this one, there were at least 50 of them I rejected.
I have to agree with you on most of what you have said. This is a serious matter and quite frankly, some of the comments were unbelievable.
While I can't censor al of them, the realy bad ones never got through. People do have the right to their opinions and I have allowed those.
I'll add, the School has to take responsibility for these charges as well. If it's swept under the rug and information like this doesn't get out to the public, wel, we'll simply have what the Catholoc Church covered up for many, many years in the past.
I don't think the Church should be protected from such information getting out as Parents deserve the right to PROTECT their own Children.
I was a victim of this situation of an older woman when I was a minor. it robbed me of my youth and "normal" young sexual experiences, the older female obviously to me now had played with my mind and knew what she was doing. It is wrong, and should be stopped, the women that do this have issues of their own. This happens way to often, yeah it sounds cool to the guys when you say I was with an older woman when I was young, but it took something away from me that I did not know I was losing until I was older and could look back. So, keep you ignorant comments to something you actually know about.
Alot of innocent people's lives have been ruined by false accusations. I certainly hope the police have more evidence than an accusation by one student who may or may not have an axe to grind.

The police don't make the laws and how they charge someone. The courts and the people that write the laws are to blame for that. If it wasn't for the screwed up judicial system the police would not have to charge people with every posible statute. Obviously the needs of a minor should be the first concern. With this in mind, Mrs Mayers has not been charged with having sex with this young man.We must also keep in mind that whatever the minor has acused Mrs Mayers must be fully investigated. I like many, feel that there are many dynamics to this case. However, keep in mind this could be a young man with a WILD imagination, who can say and do almost anything because as a minor he is protected. With that said this will be a long process, we must respect the judical system and not rush to judgment aginst either the accused or the accusor,

And, Joe, I was once told by a CPS officer that if an inmate in California called and said something about me that an arrest could be made. When it comes to Child Protective Services, one is guilty until proven innocent (in MD, at least)
Let's let the judicial system try their claim here, and see the result. The whole thing is fishy to me.

Well what a wonderful exchange. Once again, CPS Child Protective Services is charged with protecting this young man. Mrs Mayers will have her chance when the facts are exposed. Let us hope we can keep our teachers from being unfairly accused. It is no wonder that we have a shortage of teachers in todays climate. Please, everyone, let cooler heads prevail. As a footnote, be thankful that we have a forum such as this to post our opinions. Everyone take advantage of this , dont abuse it. Thanks Joe!!!

Maybe you should start attending church more often or praying that you don't have that kind of mouth on you..? 3:28, this arrogant cop is exactly why good law abiding citizens can't stand them like myself. I have never been arrested and never been in jail. I abide by the laws and I can tell you that I have witnessed some very disturbing actions from police officers. My father was a police officer. My father was a proffessional officer who did his job and actually told the truth about crimes he investigated. Those kind like my father are few and now we have those that you do not respect and with good reason. I can tell you that I would call my son or stepfather in a hurry if I needed anything, not them! I would get a quicker response and I don't need them. If you come to my castle to cause me harm, I will shoot you dead and drag at least one of your feet in my front door. I do not respect most of them...they are not the cops I grew to respect. I never heard my dad say "I put my life on the line everyday". He was not about himself like these wanna be heros and he didn't need apat on the back for doing his job.

I am an alumni of Salisbury Christian School. This school was amazing. I went their from kindergarten through 12th grade. It is the most amazing school and I do not believe the school should be judged from this incident which hasn't been proved yet, and I highly doubt it will be.
Mrs. Mayers is an amzing woman. She has helped so many students through difficulties during their life and has helped them overcome lots of obstacles.
About the picture.. How do we know that he did not steal the picture from her house? He might of been good friends with one of Mayers' sons and stuck into Mayers' bedroom and taken it. Or how do we even know that the picture is her? He could of easily gone to any porn site and gotten a picture and done a little PhotoShop to it and turned it into Mrs. Mayers. He obviously needed some time to think of his story and to get these pictures since the relationship ended a year ago and it is just coming up now.
17 year olds are smarter than you think and they lie. So now when, not if, Mayers is innocent her career and life are still ruined and the kid gets absolutly not punishment what so ever. The boy knew this and knew nothing bad would happen to him (except, pretty much every student at SCS hating him. But he doesn't have to worry about that since he does not attend there anymore).
Anyways, Mrs. Mayers is a wonderful person and it hurts to see how someone could ruin someones life by this.
And please, please do not judge the school by this. The school is wonderful and extremely educational.
I too know Mrs. Mayers I use to work with her at SCS many years ago now. She is such a nice lady. I don't blame the kids from the school or the parents for defending her. They should. They need to stand behind her and her family during this time.
I believe she is innocent until proven guilty. Could she have done it? Absolutely. Could this student have made it all up? Yes, he could have. I am not sure what his motives would have been in making it up seeing that he left the school prior to his accusations. Why would he have left the school and a year later come out with this?
To the student who said this:
"i have seen miraculous things from her. she is a leader of the worship team for heaven sake!! ya all want to know the true story??? a student got pissed off at her and told his mommy and mommy called the cops to get back at her. this woman is not crazy. "
How do you know this is true? Do you know the student personally? Or are you assuming this is the case?
I am praying for the Mayers the family. I hope and pray it is not true. SCS is a great place and I have many friends there. God is a God of restoration and hope.
I know herand all this talk about how nice someone is has nothing to do with one's sexual apetite. She has a veracious apetite. I know first hand.
Those who have posted negative comments regarding SCS being a 'nice Christian school' in a sarcastic way, and those of you who have lashed out at Christians, need to experience the forgiving grace of Jesus Christ. Whether you want to accept it or not, He died for all...He died for you. His forgiveness has been extended to all, and I pray that you will receive it.
Joe I hope you report on this and expose the errors in this case. Mrs. Mayers just had her charge dropped by the special prosecutor and he said the state will not be re charging or seeking any new charges. What happened?
