The Fruitland City Council is planning to change the current noise ordinance. The only way the citizens would know is if they attend the council meetings. Did they make any kind of public announcement to let the citizens know? No. The "elephant" in the city is the Fruitland Sports Complex. When this area started out it was surrounded mostly by farmland. Years later a developer bought a large area to build houses on. Most people know this development as Nina Lane. Everyone who chose to buy houses in that development knew the sports complex was there. Two of the city council members live in that development. Due to this, they should excuse themselves from voting on the noise ordinance.
These fields are home for the Fruitland Little League, Fall Ball and Fruitland Falcons. Have you looked at how these organizations have improved this complex? Fruitland Little League and Fruitland Falcons have installed lighting and electric score boards without it costing Fruitland citizens anything. They want to move the time in the morning from 7am to 8am and at night from 10pm to 9pm. The next City Council meeting is Sept. 9th at 7:30pm. They are scheduled to vote on this. Please come out and voice your opinion. This could be a problem for our ball parks. Sometimes our games start early and end late. It seems like Fruitland wants to run everyone away from here instead of coming up with ways to bring people and businesses here. First the water rates, followed closely by the taxes and now the noise ordinance.

Sounds a lot like Salisbury City Council, you sure they are not one in the same.
Just like the sign ordinance they do not want the citizens to know what is going on until it is voted on and passed.
Then Repealed.
NOISE??!! Why don't they do anything about all the college kids and their loud parties that would wake the dead, and all the resulting trash in the neighborhood the next morning?? Based on this article, I guess it's because it doesn't affect them!! Overpriced water that got another increase not long ago, not keeping in mind that the average citizen's income hasn't increased at all, let alone enough to keep up with their rates, including property taxes. Would sell, but no one would be foolish enough to buy in Fruitland with the exceptions of the slumlords that won't offer a fair price!
I thought this was about the couple with the 2 loud Camaros. They better attend, I am sure they will get screwed by this somehow. BTW, how's the Police Chief deal going. Funny that Somerset has a drunk Sheriff for years and do nothing, yet bust the Fruitland guy.
Fruitland resident for 5 years now. While this would affect the area around the ball fields a lot, Fruitland is a greater area than that. I live on the other side of rt. 13 and have had to call the police on my new neighbors 4 times in the past 2 months for noise. They moved into a Roop Group rental this past march and have been nothing but trouble since. I have spoken with them multiple times about the noise and trash from their house getting in my yard. I don't feel like picking up cigar wrappers from my yard, or having the insides of their cigars they have cut apart to replace the tobacco in my yard either. I have gone to Roop about it (they don't seem to care as long as rent is paid). They regularly have the stereo's in their car maxxed out late in evening and the early hours of the morning, with 3-5 people sitting in the car.
12:03 PM. It would quiet college parties with excessive noise after 9 PM. I would think that would be a good thing
Any ordinance covers the entire city not just the ball parks as you seem to think. Also it just says no excessive noise no where does it say you can't play a game. Also, the notice regarding the ordinance was printed in the Daily Times and I believe is on the city website.
The Nina Lane crowd will get what they want I promise! Also heard they may be more fields coming on Brown Street which I hope is true but the East Field People will be crying as usual! The new president lives there and has cried about the Falcons ever since and also the Fall Baseball! Noise please, catch the thugs that deal the drugs on Popular Street! I hope the Falcons put in more lights and more PA systems!
Falcons never bothered me. It is those damn long legged Herons that do all the damage to the ponds. Constantly squalking like they are dinosaurs.
Rick Pallup will soon be back in fruitland to finish what he started there since he has ruined wico with his tax and spend liberal mindset
