Good plan. Nice to see the City doing something.

It's lovely but the fact is it is going to fail. I hate to be the bearer of bad news but whomever is coming up with this stuff is clueless beyond belief.
Without jobs that pay better everything else is a complete waste of time.
The Inner Harbor in Baltimore is the perfect example. Developer Rouse knew without 9 to 5, M thru F foot traffic most who had disposable income, the harbor concept would not ever succeed.
This is the backbone of development. Holding special events and tourism is just a bonus.
Rouse worked with Mayor McKeldin (last Republican mayor of that city)and they developed a plan to lure businesses to move their headquarters around the harbor. This created the daily foot traffic needed to keep the Harbor businesses afloat. Mayor Shaffer liked to take credit for the harbor but it was really the brainchild and actions of Mayor McKeldin that should be credited.
Unless you have something planned that people can not live without seeing then Urban Planning 101 dictates "it's not build and they will come, but get them there then build."

anonymous 9:27 is right.

You must have an anchor, (or several) in order to make this plan survive.

Ireton and Day are simply trying to make it LOOK like they are busy. I have seen this all too often where they deliver pretty pictures/drawings and the public soaks it up like a sponge.

However, here's the difference. Your Mayor, (nor Jake Day) have BUSINESS EXPERIENCE. They make charts. They tell you things that are not true and will not work.

I tried to convince the public that this was a LOT of work and that Downtown is NOT the only place Salisbury needs help with. Many call it lipstick on a pig, it's true.

Look around Ladies & Gentlemen. Look what's happening to Salisbury and then THINK, just how long will you put up with the complete BS before you realize you've been had by amateurs with ZERO experience?

Campbell, GONE. Cohen, GONE. Albero, GONE. Dirty Dozen, GONE. They have you exactly where they want you.

Nice Pictures. LMAO

This town is always so worried about downtown, It's dead, it has been for years. Leave it alone. The rest of the town goes to hell, but yet, they still worry about downtown. Give it a break and put priorities where they belong.

The power point presentation for the developers of the old mall had some nice pretty pictures of plans for that property also. How well did that project work out?

What happened to Historic Downtown? There is nothing historic about these plans.

That's bc the mayor WILL get kick backs from these builders when that douchbag is finally out of office.

Yep. For every one of these concepts that have succeeded 100's have failed.

So basically the city is going to spend 8 years installing those stupid curvy things that are on Isabella street, and they are going to remove the mysterious obelisk?

Would there be a problem with letting us in on all of the marvelous and wonderful changes AFTER they are completed? Anything less is politics as usual.

Anyone who dares question all of this in an unfavorable light, will be immediately labeled an obstructionist or be accused of being "negative."
This is the tactic of the ignorant when they don't have an answer. Democrats are proficient at doing just that-one of the few things they are proficient at-lying being the other.

Get a price tag on all this work first, then compare that number to say, 5 years of free parking loss of revenue. Add back in the salaries of two of four in the parking department that we will no longer need.

That's right, folks; sawing down the meters would save the City millions, and the private sector free to open stores that people would actually come downtown to shop, unencumbered by having to keep running out in front of the Meter Maid all day.

The cheapest experiment in the world, and barely a finger lifted to bring business and customers together.

Hey, if it fails, it was an inexpensive experiment. If it brings success, then some lipstick will be fully justified!

Horse..., then cart.

This is a precursor to the next mayorial election.Get ready for non stop downtown revitalization promises.Joe,your ideas had merit and would have worked.Everything else that I've heard before or since sounds ridiculous.

I am glad this work is being done.
Why do you people insist on condemning and criticizing every positive step taken in this town?

First of downtown like the rest of the shore isnt coming back. Everytime someone gets a chance to leave they are taking it. There are no real good paying jobs, no progress, no industry, and the list goes on and on. These plans have no merrit and will never be put into action case closed......the shore is losing to fast.....

Because 11:46 someone has to show real leadership and real leadership does criticize FYI.
Real leadership leaves no stones unturned uses condemnation and criticism as a tool to make sure a project is well thought out and every angle investigated.
You are the problem. While the renderings look great on paper-I have news for you, there's much more to this than pretty drawings and don't you ever forget it.
Salisbury's deteriorated because of short sighted, non forward thinking people like yourself who are too stupid to look past the pretty picture and start focusing on the backbone of any project like this which is people who have money to spend and jobs.
If you and others had an ounce of sense you would know that the majority of the time these projects never see the light of day and if they do they fail and it's because the backbone of the project-jobs providing people with extra money to spend-was ignored.
If I sound harsh too bad. Someone needs to set you people straight and tell you how it works in the real world.
The same people and the same mindset got themselves all jazzed up over The Plaza and that walk thru concept from the back parking lot to there. That worked out really well didn't it-LOL. Now you people are falling again into the same trap. You people are unique in that you never learn from previous mistakes. The Dumb and Dumber show.

We criticism and condemn because some of us are of higher standards that you 11:46. A picture of what might be isn't progress and if you think it is then you are not a very progressive smart person. Show me the deal that was made with an employer that is going to bring in a couple of dozen above poverty level wage jobs and then I'll get excited.
Salisbury is going to hell because people have such low expectations from their elected officials. They are shown a presentation like this and it makes them happy.
