WSJ POLL: 76% OF AMERICANS THINK THEIR CHILDREN'S LIVES WILL BE WORSE

A new Wall Street Journal/NBC News poll reveals that an all-time record of 76% of Americans do not believe their children’s lives will be better than their own. Almost as many respondents, 71%, believe the U.S. is headed in the wrong direction, as compared to 63% only one month ago; 60% believe that direction is plunging downward.

A significant 70% of respondents credit their gloomy outlook to Washington politicians rather than the torpid economy, and 79% dislike the American political system.

Democratic pollster Fred Yang and Republican Bill McInturff conducted the poll. Yang said, "The American public is telling its elected representatives that the economic distress that a significant proportion of them are feeling is directly their fault. The public seems to have moved beyond the plaintive cry of 'feel our pain' to the more angry pronouncement of 'you are causing our pain.'"

It seems you are not taking into account that this is not about one side or the other. It is both sides fighting for control of who gets to have the most power. Its not about who will get elected to serve us the best. Its about who can get elected to further the agenda of the 1%. People are fed up with the political system as whole.

So if you continue to see it as one side versus another side you will simply be propping up one side of a circular argument allowing the political system to maintain its stranglehold of the rest of the 99% of America.

Our "elected" officials serve one master, themselves.

Can you say thanks to Obama and the lazy welfare crowd.

The welfare baby mamas probably feel differently. If they have a few kids and remain unmarried, they will make a very good yearly salary without ever showing up for work.

5 p.m. is right. Stop buying into the Dem vs Repub b.s. They are ALL the same party! The Power and Money Party.

Divide and Conquer is what they are doing to the American people!

Of course their lives are going to be worst and the blame lies exclusively on the backs of the democrat party. Democrat policies have always failed and will continue to fail.

They serve big corporations (esp true of the democrats) which does benefit them to an extent, but politicians are really nothing but slaves to big business. This is why there isn't much to respect about politicians anymore.

The middle class has now become slaves. Think about it, we work they take a third of our checks because we work. They give what we make to others who do not work. We make "too much" to get any assistance. So we are basically servants to the lazy do nothing people, who vote for the "plantation Masters" (government officials). Its not rocket science to think that one day everyone is going to give up and stop working because we are just punished for trying to better ourselves. Who is going to feed all the people who do not work when the middle class is gone? NOT the politicians! You will see revolution again. Time to storm the bastille!

Their lives will be worse because parents don't teach them how to care for themselves (by pandering to every whim & giving them everything they want.)

I strongly disagree with this sentiment. As an independent, I don't ever vote for the 'D' or the 'R', but the individual. I do agree that most politicians on the scene today are of little value. But, there remain representatives like Trey Gowdy, Tom Cruz, and Rand Paul. You simply can't compare these gentlemen to McCain, Pelosi, and Biden.

Additionally, if Mitt Romney had been elected, we would not have the god-awful mess in this country that we are currently experiencing. So please, take the time to assess the choices and vote accordingly. Don't fall for this simplistic 'they're all the same' reasoning. It discourages people from voting - and that is often how 'they' win elections.

Good grief - I meant TED Cruz. Sorry.

Why does college factor in so much with our childrens future as indicated by the accompanying photo? Every degree represents one less young person performing physical labor. The white collar/blue collar ratio must be maintained or the chiefs will outnumber the Indians.Apparently no one wants their precious child to get their hands dirty.

Not every child is college material, nor can everyone afford college (or the loan payments due after graduation). But you're correct, kids don't want to get their hands dirty. Teenagers used to work on farms during the summer or cut grass in the neighborhood. You never see this happening now.
