The Maryland governor is a problem-solver and a social-justice Catholic who can transcend the left-right divide. Keep an eye on him.
As Martin O’Malley dips his ankles into the deep end of national politics – most recently with his full-throated plea earlier this month against the deportation of immigrant children — I recalled the first time I saw him on a national stage.
I had a pretty good view: I was standing right next to him.
The two of us were being paraded as rising stars by the Democratic Leadership Council at the 2000 Democratic National Convention -- and even featured together on the cover of The New Democrat magazine.

Just think of all the problems I could solve if I could just use other peoples money. We the people need to be responsible for ourselves, period. Stop taxing and regulating us out of existence Marty. Bankrupt yourself and your family first Marty. And if you love gays and immigrant children so much move them into your house Marty. Stop ramming your progressive agenda down our throats Marty. I need a drink. Thanks Marty.
You might not like him, but the author makes some valid points. Republicans ought to take O'Malley seriously.
after electing Obama... the potential of the stupidity of this country scares me...just say no to a omally for president in 2016
For 2016, Take Martin O’Malley, Seriously?
Hillary and O'Malley...I gets moe free cell phones YO...dey gots my vote
He's a huge failure and has no chance.
The Clintons are going to make him a sweet deal. The more the threat the better the payoff.
If americans are as stupid as marylanders we deserve everything we get.
I hope we don't get him for President.
Problem solver? Tax the rain!!
Social justice? Affirmative action racist!
Catholic? The man is a hypocrite and
4:52 is Chuck Cook!
I SERIOUSLY take hime as the socialist he is. Tax and give away.
After reading the source article I've come to the conclusion that Marty has used some of his election fund to pay Jonathan Miller for that write up.
Catholic is a negative, and he is nowhere near a problem solver. He's a problem creator.
I see he's working on how to twist his mouth like Obama does when he's lying to us.
If he can sell the idea, that every perceived problem can be solved with new taxes and a larger government, to the American people, like he did to Marylander's that elected him to two terms, then he has a chance. If Americans don't want to be even more overtaxed than they already are, then they will not support him on a national ticket, once they see what his record on taxes in Maryland was. It will be his ball and chain that will drag him down. Now as a vice presidential choice, apparently the standard is not as high. Just think Biden. Not good enough to ever be president, but can stand by and hope someone dies.
And don't forget he also has a movie to his credit.
