Delaware is the least dependent on the federal government of any state, according to a study from personal finance web site WalletHub.
It measured dependency by looking at return on taxes paid to the federal government, federal funding as a percentage of state revenue and the number of federal employees per capita.
Illinois came in second after Delaware, followed by Minnesota, New Jersey and Connecticut. Mississippi and New Mexico tied for the most dependent, followed by Alabama, Louisiana and Maine.
