Nestled in rural Pennsylvania on the 500-acre Carlisle Barracks, the war college is conducting an inventory of all its paintings and photographs with an eye for rehanging them in historical themes to tell a particular Army story.
During the inventory, an unidentified official — not the commandant, Maj. Gen. Anthony A. Cucolo III — asked the administration why the college honors two generals who fought against the United States, college spokeswoman Carol Kerr said.

This is ridiculous. They are a very important part of our history. It should not matter whose side you were on to recognize them as great soldiers.

A 2nd civil war is possible. It may be very different than the 1865± variety, but it will be a War. We have to take America back.

There was a blanket pardon and restoration of citizenship for these men and all the others. This should be a non issue.

Washington and Lee University if I remember correctly and if I didn't someone will set me straight.
R.E. Lee had no particular ideological reasons for serving the Confederacy. Like many, his motivation was to protect his home from northern aggression. He gave up a lot to do the right thing. And he did it well. Seems he would be just the kind of individual that our war college should honor.
Changing history one story at a time... pretty soon, our kids will know nothing but what's online.

This is so completely crazy. These generals regardless of north, south were great generals. Even today, our armed services spend time in Gettysburg reviewing the battles with the soldiers. I run into them many times while walking through the parks. I stopped to talk with some of the soldiers and they told me it is part of their training in military tactics.
Our history is our important story. Regardless of sides, it is important to honor all the brave soldiers who fought and died for freedom. To do anything less is dishonorable and unforgiveable.

You are right that a second Civil War is possible and this is one reason to remove these portraits. This administration doesn't what to give any ideas with these two heroes.

You need to get your facts straight. He became president of a college and they named the university after him. Have you ever heard of Washington and Lee University in Lexington Virginia. General Lee's application for amnesty was lost to history and in 1975, Lee's full rights of citizenship were posthumously restored by a joint congressional resolution effective June 13, 1865 and signed by President Ford.
R.E. Lee was a scholar and a gentleman. He was the best General this Country and the South ever had. He was loved by both the North and South and if you idiots don't like him because you are uninformed and misguided than keep blowing Obama and his Muslim friends.
