OCEAN CITY – The Town of Ocean City is at its wits end with the delay of the Caroline Street Comfort Station completion as the contractor is warned its performance bond will be called if the project is not substantially complete by the end of the week.
On Monday evening, City Manager David Recor presented an update of the Town of Ocean City’s Strategic Plan and the progress of the plan’s action items during the past year. One of those action items was the reconstruction and completion of the Caroline Street Comfort Station on the Boardwalk. As of Monday, more than a year after demolition of the former structure and construction was initiated, the project is not finished, despite earlier deadlines of Memorial Day weekend and then subsequent proposed completion dates passing.
“As you are all aware, it is significantly behind schedule due to weather delays and contractor performance,” Recor said. “I have spoken with the city engineer and we are prepared to and will call the bond this Friday.”

"comfort station"?? who comes up with cheeseball names like that? if it's a crapper call it a crapper!!!
Looks like the city and the architect outdid themselves designing the bathrooms and the contractor left off all the time for those fancy angles.Tax dollars at work.
Black Diamond must have learned from TEMCO lolol
Right on 11:05 am!! I see Temco working all around again with all new contractors. Once Ed and Jeff get done screwing them they'll be back to grabbing for crumbs once again.
Joe, if you did a post on Temco it would prob generate 500 or more comments. From what I understand they owe every sub and supplier in our area. An ugly beast they are.
Hmmm. Temco took over a job that I'm still owed money on. Now I'm really worried.
11:46,I think it would be more!
Holy cow everyone better stop all the temco talk. Jeff Dashiell hears of it and he will blowing up Joes phone. lolol
What a joke, I wouldn't hire them to build a doghouse.
Our Christmas Bonuses were not given because of the large amount of money that Temco owed us, Merry F!@#$%^ in Christmas "Jeff" !
Having been in the construction business most all of my life - I have scene this same scenario;
1. Contractor low balls bid to get work.
2. In middle of job - contractor realizes they made a big mistake.
3. Then - can't buy gasoline to get to jobsite. Can't retain employees to work. Can't pay workman's compensation, unemployment insurance, etc.
4. Job drags on and on while poor contractor gets deeper and deeper.
Let's face it - I have posted on this blog time and time again warning people to stay out of OC. The Town of OC threw out the bait - and Black Diamond Builders took it.
They will probably never recover. Ocean City - you got what you paid for - LOW BID!!!
Reference 6:31 Posting
I to have witnessed the same thing over and over again. The Town of OC is complicit in the latest fiasco. They knew when they awarded the bid that the job couldn't be built for the price that was quoted.
I my honest opinion - Black Diamond Builders should sue the City for misrepresentation and fraud.
How pathetic oc can't even get this done.... I know the snow all summer slowed them down......a real shame, ad lover boy and the tourists will easily stay away......
6:31,Salisbury is no different any many contractors wont do business here.

Santa Jeff is gonna poop down your chimney
We could have pre fabbed this thing in 2 weeks and had it up and running in less than a month.
6:31 has it all. I agree wholeheartedly with this assessment. The Architect they hired to design this building should have offered up a general cost with his design, and when the bids came in, this should have been a huge consideration. Obviously, when a lower bid came e in, greed ruled.
It is what it is, been there, done that, worked 3 other jobs to pay for one bad bid to save the company names face and move on to the next job.
