The Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office is pleased to announce that Deputy Tyler Bennett and Deputy Jen Hastings were recognized as a “Smooth Operator Law Enforcement Officer.” Both were recognized for their efforts during the 2012 Smooth Operator public safety initiative. The award was presented at the 15th Annual Smooth Operator luncheon held in Greenbelt, Maryland on September 26.
The Smooth Operator Program is a unique partnership of law enforcement, public safety officials and other experts in the District of Columbia and Maryland. It is designed to combat aggressive driving and identify short and long term solutions in traffic safety. Law enforcement agencies, trauma experts, government officials and other professionals work together to educate motorists about the risks involved with aggressive driving and combat aggressive driving behavior on our roads.
The program, funded by a grant from the Motor Vehicle Administration Highway Safety Office, was conducted in four waves: June 3 – 9, June 29 – July 7, August 5 – 18, and September 2 – 8, 2012.

Translation --- they wrote the most tickets. And collected the most money. What "recommendations" did they come up with? Put more cops on the road? More speed camera's? Lower the number of MPH over the speed limit drivers could be cited for so as to be able to write more tickets for "aggressive" driving or "reckless" driving? It has nothing to do with "safety". Just MONEY. Now, if they started ticketing the State Police for doing 15-20 MPH over the limit on their way to their kids ball game, THAT would REALLY rake in the dollars. Oh. Sorry. My bad. They are above the law. How many police have been caught on speed cameras in this area? How many points did they get and how much in fines did they pay? Exactly...
I think a cop must have gotten to Imclain somehow... He is so full of hate.
1:58, nope not a cop, I see it as imclain calling BS which I would have done as well. I see to starry eyed innocent naive kids who probably want to do good things and help their fellow citizens only to be robbed at some point in the future of those ideals and desires by an overbearing bureaucracy the demands to be fed no matter what the costs! do tell what did they do to identify short and long term solutions in traffic safety? TOTAL BS!
Hardly. No criminal record. No points on my license. I don't give 'em hell --- I tell the truth and they THINK it's hell....point out my errors if you can. Argue FACTS. But if you cannot, well, resort to what you do best....
Nice work Deputies! Keep it up! Thanks for keeping our roads safe from people like 1:44.
Some people are safe from 1:44. Others? Not so much. You know what I'm sayin'.....
Sounds like the POTUS! Now that's a fact, jack!
Too bad the effort is not placed on real criminals....speeders give me a break ...if they enforced the speed limit they could not write tickets fast enough ...keep left move over peace out
Been commuting south for decades had my share of fiscal contributions..lol ... but this last two years the sheriff has been setting radar traps to..its about the money..if they were concerned bout safety..we would have an interstate replacing RT 13 ...pass new crosses constantly...

I totally agree, two starry eyed kids who will be eaten by the system.
