Attn: Smart Meter Opt Out - Jeanette Mills

Dear Ms. Mills;

I am very concerned over the reports available concerning Smart Meters potential safety hazards, interference with other home electronics, disruption of router services for my internet and personal privacy.

I am requesting to take advantage of any ‘opt out’ options for the new Smart Meter installation.

Your personnel are hereby placed on notice that I will consider it Trespassing if a work crew attempts to enter or does in fact enter my property unless I specifically request their services. All legal avenues will be considered if in fact your personnel do commit Trespass.

BGE has not, to my satisfaction, presented a compelling argument in which I would benefit from these Smart Meters. Until such time as you do, consider this address as a “DO NOT INSTALL” AND “DO NOT TRESPASS” location.

A reply indicating your receipt of this letter is expected and would be appreciated. You may also send me any further information you feel would aid in my decision to accept your Smart Meter.

Sincerely:

Just a note for the low informed, if your supplier is DP&L or Choptank, DO NOT address it to Baltimore Gas and Electric.

Total control is the elitist plan for us working citizens, work, pay taxes and shut-up.

Everyone opting out should have to pay for manual meter readings.

Then what's the address and to whom we send it?

to my knowledge; choptank isn't installing "government control meters" yet, but dp&l is...may want to check this.

3:00 You dummy, we DO! Everytime we get a bill we're paying for it. You must be a meter reader and are just too lazy to do your job!!! Get off your rumpus and keep soaking us but you're going to actually have to get out and do your job!

3:00, we're with choptank and we read our meters every month. no problem with that...

The main problem I see with this is one has already signed away any claim to trespassing by agreeing to have electric service in the first place.

In a nutshell, they have the right to enter your property to service, maintain, or inspect their equipment. That includes the meter.

Whether you like it or not, the power company owns the actual meter. They can replace it anytime they want to.

Others have tried similar tactics and found themselves in the dark, if they want to rescind the utility's rights to access your property....

I absolutely love my smart meter. Nobody walking through the yard every month and leaving our gate open.

Just wanted to say I went to the Post Office today to send off my 2 Certified Letters stating I did not want the Smart Meter.
My Cost to do that was $12.22!!!
I couldn't believe it as it's been a long time since I sent certified mail!!!

Delmarva Power should have to
pay for each person who has had to do this to stop them from installing!!!

What exactly is the purpose of the smart meter? I still have not received any correspondence from Delmarva Power regarding them.

they will try to install the smart meters when you are not home. you can also install a customer purchased analog meter and then the customer owns the meter.

Smart meters interact with the Energy Star appliances to transmit all kinds of data to the electric company over the power lines. Despite the sales job claiming that they will save money, nobody has ever seen a lower price for power because of them. Early adopting power companies are now saying that they need to raise rates to buy software to make use of the meters!

There are also plenty of reports of health issues related to smart meters.

Do what you can to keep them off your house.

Here is the bottom line If you install a smart meter and use less kwh every month, the power supplier goes to the psc and gets a rate increase to cover cost. So in the long run you lose
