A possible glitch in a computer system upgrade was causing major problems nationwide with the Electronic Benefits Transfer System on Saturday, as a countless number of shoppers found themselves stranded at the register.
Reports from around the country began pouring in around 9 a.m. on Saturday that customers’ EBT cards were not working in stores.
The glitch, however, did not appear to be part of the government shutdown. At 2 p.m., an EBT customer service representative told CBS Boston that the system was currently down for a computer system upgrade.

EBT cards are part of the problem, just feeding those that refuse to work.
Hopefully it has been disabled by hackers and will continue to defund the low info Democrat voters.
I hope the day never comes( when you people who are so quick to insult everyone that receives food stamps) when you need a little help! Yes, there are people who abuse the system, but there are others that need help to feed their families. I lost my job, found a part time job that has now ended. Without food stamps I don't know what I would do. It is the most humbling experience, to have to go and apply for help. Never thought I would be "here". So for all the ignorant people who have such terrible things to say...maybe you should spend ONE day in my life. Having coffee and bread as my one meal a day. Trying to make a meal out of potatoes, being diabetic and not being able to eat properly because I can't afford to buy what I need. Maybe you shouldn't be so quick to judge everyone. One day you may be the one that needs help.

You hit the nail on the head 643PM! I agree also that 617PM should get off their butt, work somewhere, even if part time and get some exercise! They won't like to hear this but oh well, too bad! It seems as though others are able to work with diabetes......

It makes no sense that people are so quick to judge people who receive food stamps. What I really think it boils down to is you are mad u can't get them. I get food stamps and work a very good well known job and only have two kids but I do qualify for some food stamps and have no problem getting them. Its not my fault my job/career does not pay what is needed to survive. Bottom line is not all people that collect foodstamps sit on their buts

Hey Pity Party I was just in the mall and there were help wanted signs all over the mall. You should quit feeling sorry for yourself and work multiple jobs if you have to. Sounds to me that you refuse to work. I have yet to see anyone who it quick to insult everyone, just the lazy ones who refuse to work.

It is your fault that your "job/career" does not pay you enough. Cut back on the cigs, cut back on the sodas and chips. You chose your career path and if you feel the need to live a higher lifestyle then I suggest you find a better paying job. You job is your choice, no one forced you to work your career. Slavery is over except for Obamacare.

I think 9:07 is correct. It was a test run blamed on a "glitch" to see what would happen if the gov shut the program down. It's amazing that this is the first "glitch" that has ever happened to bet and it was during a shutdown.
No need to worry any respectable EBT holder has already spent their monthly stipend it's the 14th of the month afterall.
