Wicomico County Schools
All Schools are operating on a regular schedule.
The fog is unbelievable outside, yet they have all schools on a regular schedule. I'll add, Delmar Middle & High School are on a 2 hour delay, go figure.

No fog delay, due to MSA testing!!!! That is why!!!
Was just out driving my older son to work and couldn't see a foot in front of me. I just assumed the schools here would be on a 2 hour delay as well. I assumed incorrectly. What the heck are they thinking?
Oh, and thanks for this, Joe. I haven't gotten the doohickey on my TV that will let it work, so I couldn't tune in to the morning shows for the crawl. I came on line to find out what was going on, and your site is the ONLY place I could find anything about any delays or lack thereof. Thank you.
What idiots running the school. With the hour jump from the weekend before last makes it even more dangerous. Since scool starts at 745 am it is like starting 645 the old time.
"What idiot..." you ask? The same one they just gave another 4 year contract. This is crazy. It's screw the kids welfare (it is dangerous driving out there) for the sake of MSA. Should be the other way around. Be safe driving, people.
I am so burnt up over this mess this morning!!!! Why is there no plan implemented in case of inclement weather during MSA testing???? Like someone else commented, this is NOT the first year of MSA testing!!! I mean is our childrens safety trumped by these MSA's?? This is ridiculous we have had far less foggier days before and had 1 and 2 hour delays.....ohhhh but no God Forbid no delays allowed during the ever so important MSA's!!!! Spare me its all just about numbers they dont care about our kids safety!!!!
I have a teacher in my family. MSA testing is exactly why they aren't delaying school. Whoever made that statement above is exactly right. So...it's safety first....unless there is testing involved. Dammit we need that federal money!
what exactly does the "comprehensive assessment of conditions" entail that warrants the superintendent to risk the lives of our children for a test that could be rescheduled?
"The decision to delay, dismiss early or close any or all schools and/or the central office will be made by the superintendent on the basis of a comprehensive assessment of conditions that exist within a facility, a school attendance area or the entire county. Notification of delayed openings/closings will be provided under a plan disseminated by the superintendent's office"
I want to know why there are people out there driving without their lights on? I only work 10 min from my house and I passed for Aholes without their lights on. At least one of them had a child in the car. Come on People!!!
Its gonna take an Easton type accident of years back to clear the way here. Until someone dies Frederickson will continue to play with the system. So sad it will take a bus getting T-boned to make people understand what an idiot he truly is. Why wait folks? Blast him in every way possible. Just speak out!!! I mean come on!,my son's bus was 15 minutes late due to the fog. I'd like to get Ol'Freddy out on the roads this morning just as our kids were. I bet I could make him see the error of his ways. One way or another. Is he one of the subject of that new movie? 3 Stooges??? Looks like Curly a bit. Certainly has the brains of him too.
The MSA tests are not about the children. It is so sad to see the teachers really believing that these tests are valuable to children. Actually, I pull my children out of MSA testing for vacation because they aren't learning a thing!
No one who cares about the well being of children sends them to school with these dangerous conditions.
10:05 Some of the children that ride the bus have to cross the street to get on the bus. If you can't see the flashing red lights to know to stop a child could get killed. There IS a reason to delay or cancel school if it could put the children in danger.
Why not just transport your child in full football gear or better yet and astronaut suit? Jeez, it's fog, not fire! Assuming the average driver drives with caution related to conditions, there is no danger. Most of you morons would be the same ones bitching if there was a fog delay today. Just seems to be the purpose of this blog....bitching at everything. Put on your big girl panties for a change.
Waaaa! It looks like everybody made it to school just fine. What do you do when it's foggy outside? Drive slower, drive more cautiously and use your headlights.
Society is so quick to complain about stupid crap, just like when it barely snows and parents complain about schools being closed and thus having to take off work to care for their children. I am be no means a fan of how the BOE conducts themselves, but I must admit that most of the time they are in a no win situation because of whiny parents!
10:54 it's not the bus drivers people worry about, it's the other idiots driving on the roads without lights and not slowing down due to inclement weather...maybe you should stop and think before posting your 2¢ worth.
10:05, 10:51 and 10:54, You folks have obviously never endured a loved one dying in an accident. Typical comments from people who think evrybody is out to whine about something or get one over on somebody. Had a family member or child of yours been the victims of that foggy morning in Easton I bet you'd feel differently. WCBOE will someday reap what they sow when an "accident" of that magnitude rocks this area. It will indeed happen if they keep reacting as they did today. Risk should never be taken when children are involved. You think the budget is hurting now Freddy boy wait til the ambulance chasers line up for a good ol govt. lawsuit payout. Its just a matter of time!!! Please go back to MN!!
Kids are walking to school and to bus stops and they are difficult to see in the fog wearing what many of them wear. Not every child is on a bus the second he walks out the door.

MSA TESTING! This is total bs! I can't see the light in front of Bennett! I can't tell if it green or red!

MSA Testing today and tomorrow! There will be no delay tomorrow either because of the tests. I can't even see the road from my window!!!
yep MSA is why they didn't have a delay so plan for the same thing tom.
Would it be that hard to develop a plan for a one-hour delay and a two-hour delay? This isn't the first year we've done this.
What idiots running the school. With the hour jump from the weekend before last makes it even more dangerous. Since scool starts at 745 am it is like starting 645 the old time.
There will be an excuse and it won't be testing. They'll say everything was clear when they decided not to delay. NOTHING is EVER their fault.
Everything for the test!!! Test scores are more important then student lives..Did you know that?!
Delmar de 2 hr few miles south no delay!
ohhh MSA testing ... Nice they have their priorities in order... idiots
I guess someone will need to get hit by a car or cause an accident by running a light they can't see before they decide to put safety before testing!

Just like the speed cameras it's all about the kids safty. NOT they don't give a crap about you'r kids.

Fog??? Really???!!! Get over it, there is absolutely no reason in the world to delay school for fog....ever. Get real.

10:05 u r so dumb! u get real there is such a thing as fog delay moron!
Can't be that bad, I saw many cars without their lights on this AM.
Dorchester County was on a 2 hour delay and POSTPONED their MSA testing! So, it's obviously an option for other counties as well...
The good sense shown today has been shown for four years, but they renewed him anyway.

10:54 the same could be said about drunk driving hay I made it home this time I didn't kill anyone. Still don't make it right.
