GOVERNOR O’MALLEY DECLARES PURPLE FRIDAY BEFORE RAVENS FACE-OFF IN THE AFC CHAMPIONSHIP GAME

ANNAPOLIS, MD (January 19, 2012) – Governor O’Malley today wished the Ravens luck as they continue their success in the playoffs and announced yet another “Purple Friday” this week for state employees, where they will be allowed to dress down in support of the Ravens and wear their team gear to work.

“As the Baltimore Ravens continue their successful playoff run, we wish them nothing but the best of luck as they fight for an AFC title on Sunday,” said Governor O’Malley. “We will be right there cheering and watching as the Ravens trample over the Patriots on their way to Indianapolis.”

Recently, the Governor tweeted at Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick to remind him of the lobsters he received after the 2010 Ravens’ victory in Foxboro.

What a bunch of BS! O'Malley needs to focus on more important issues. Not all of us Marylanders like the Ravens and we think his "Purple Friday" concept is stupid. Many of us will be rooting for the Patriots and against Ray Lewis. Did everyone forget about his 2000 murder charges in Atlanta?
Tomorrow will be "Red, White and Blue Friday" for us anti-Raven fans and we can't wait to watch lobsterless O'malley this year as he hands Governor Deval Patrick a bushel of delicious Maryland crabs after the Patriots victory!

Hey 3:38pm why do you have to be a "Debbie Downer"???
You must be a "come here" and not a local?
The Gov is just trying to have a little fun outside of politics.
Even though he is a left winger!

There's just NO WAY the ravens will beat the Patriots!
(possibly, ever.)

Hey 8:15pm I lived in Maryland most of my life. What difference does it make it make if I'm a come here.
I liked the Colts.
The city and its fair-weathered fans did not support the team which is why they are in Indy.
I agree with 3:34am. The party will be over for the Ravens come Sunday.
Good season though but not good enough.
