BETHESDA, Md. (WUSA)-- Montgomery County Police say they are charging a 39-year old mother for leaving her 6-year old daughter unattended Wednesday night inside their apartment on the 4300 block of Rock Forest Drive, in Bethesda.
Investigators say the young girl was home alone trying to cook when she set off smoke detectors, forcing fire crews and police to come racing to the apartment. Police say the child was trying to make toast when the toaster oven began to overheat filling the apartment with smoke.
