Flush Tax To Double, But Delegates Question Use For Other Purposes

Doubling the flush tax to $60 a year is one of the revenue increases Gov. Martin O'Malley proposed Wednesday in his fiscal 2013 budget. Revenue from the tax goes into the Chesapeake Bay Restoration Fund to upgrade sewage treatment plants. Money from septic system users is also used to upgrade some of those systems and pay for cover crops. The new money is needed because the upgrades have cost more than originally estimated.

Why not charge the municpal users more? The people on sceptic don't contribute to the waste generated by those systems.

Does this say they took $100 in cash with no debt and traded it for $100 in bonds that they will have to pay $110 back for????????????

I don't like McDermott's idea either. If you collected the tax to fix treatment plants, then draw the money out to fix treatment plants!!!!

More millions to go anywhere but to clean the bay.The billions taken in from poor taxpayers gets sqandered on pet projects that help the enviro-wackos that put him in office.

Even if you're not on municipal services, you create sludge. Just where do you think all that sludge goes?
I'm not a fan of ANY new taxes and certainly not a fan of taxes, period, but sometimes I read the most stupid comments!
If that's all you have to stop the tax, you better get your checkbook handy because that arguement won't stop it, that's for sure!
