Senator Ben Cardin is pleased to announce that he has received the endorsement of President Barack Obama in his 2012 campaign for the United States Senate.
In one of his earliest endorsements of the 2012 campaign season, President Obama states,
Ben is one of the good guys.
He has the courage to stand up for what he believes and he works for solutions to the most important issues facing our nation. That's why I need your help keeping Ben Cardin in the U.S. Senate.
Maryland and our country need Ben's principled leadership to help restore economic security for the middle class. Ben has been my friend since we served together in the Senate. Together we work so that our children will have the opportunity for a quality education, our seniors will have security and dignity, and we fight for a balanced approach to our nation's fiscal problems that protects our priorities and invests in job growth.
In the months to come, please help make the calls and knock on the doors in order to spread the message to return Ben to the U.S. Senate.
“I am thrilled to have the early support of President Obama, and this speaks to the importance of Democrats being united in the 2012 campaign," Senator Cardin responded to the President's endorsement.

See ya, Ben!
Now I am officially ABC -- Anybody But Cardin.
Big whoop! Whom else would Obama endorse? It seems to me that this would be a kiss of death, but Md. is so heavily Democratic that Cardin will be re-elected (and Obama will carry Md).
That enough reason for me to vote AGAINST cardin!
Ben who? Will never get my vote again, and did vote for him before. He is history.
Boy that's a kiss of death.
Hate to say it. But you folks forget this is Maryland and the only other state more liberal than us is California. And they would vote for Hitler himself as long as he was a democrat.
It's a shame that a candidate only has to carry 3 counties in the state to win. Baltimore, Montgomery, & Prince Georges counties are going to keep this state a pathetic, miserable blue state for as far as I can see. Too bad the vote is tallied by the number of counties you carry in the state.
