Here is a little something for your readers and Bernadette and her hit squad headed up by Lt. Elton Harmon. So I’m in roll call the other night with probationary Sgt. Doug Smith and apparently an officer wrote something on the blog regarding Sgt. Doug Smith. Well Sgt. Smith ordered us to write a 95 (formal department memo) to him stating if we wrote anything on the blog site. We were also ordered not to discuss it….yeah right!
Under the 1st Amendment we are entitled to Freedom of Speech, however Sgt. Doug Smith feels as though he is above the Founding Fathers of the United States Constitution. How is that? Oh I forgot…he’s an OCPD Sergeant. So the officers have been placed between a rock and a hard place. Fess up and tell Smith if you’ve said anything on the blog site OR don’t say anything and if he finds out the result will be the same….RETALIATION OCPD STYLE! Which is already happening while we are at work right Doug?
I’ll tell you another incident Mr. Albero. I had the unfortunate experience to witness Sgt. Doug Smith one night this past August show another subordinate officer a photocopy of a man and woman. Apparently one or both were of interest to OCPD. Well the glorious PROBATIONARY Sgt. Doug Smith shows the photocopy of this couple to a subordinate TSU (Traffic Safety Unit) officer and makes the comment, “If you look hard enough you can see the outline of her pus*y through her pants”. Whooooooooooooo Nellie I thought to myself! Here we have a PROBATIONARY sergeant that is a supervisor and is suppose to set a professional example to other subordinate officers and he is commenting about this woman’s pus*y. And Sgt. Doug Smith is concerned about what other officers are saying? Hmmmm..maybe he should be concerned about himself.
So now another cat (meow) is out of the bag and I’m sure Lt. Guiton (internal affairs) is going to read this post. Do you think anything is going to happen to PROBATIONARY Sgt. Doug Smith? The answer is no. He is one of DiPino’s protected handpicked golden children.

If you don't like your job as a OC police officer, just quit. There are plenty of people out there that will take the job and not complain. Everyone will have problems with their superiors. Fact of life. I don't see a problem with instructing employees to not make vindictive and false comments on blog sites. If they have something truthful to say, do it in the paper and write your name.
This is just another proof positive exposure of the rampant corruption of Law Enforcement. Cops are nothing more than state validated bullies determined to exercise their control over each other and common citizens for no apparent good other than to massage their ego's and collect money for the government. SH*t rolls down hill so no wonder a lot of officers treat the public the way they do. Isolate them from community. Cut them off in social situations like church and schools.
Respect them like you would a sociopathic criminal with a gun, not the law abiding peace officers they masquerade as.

Wow this is so wrong. First they gag you from the inside, shut down your right to free speech yet they use the paper to say whatever they want about whomever! Then the amazing rudeness and unprofessionalism shown by a SGT. This is what my taxes pay for? It seems the cloak is lifting and the ugliness is filtering out. I wonder what's next, it looks like they have hired thugs and are out of control. Thanks Joe for being a free voice advocate, this stuff would never make the papers! I am a believer now that the PD is not our friend not sure there arent more nasty stories.
Probationary Sgt no more. This guy should not be a Sgt let alone a cop!!
Sounds like every other work place out there. Get over it and move on if you don't like it there. I have switched work places several times because the boss was an a@@.

Seems if the OCPD superiors were so sure that they manage in an
acceptable manner they wouldn't care who wrote what on a blog.Still seems like they are trying to keep the truth from coming out. I feel the council will just sweep this under the rug and the mayor is too busy being mayor, city manager and don't forget his realestate business that he's doing in part from city hall. Maybe OC gan get a group discount from Springsted Inc.in their searh for a city manager and search for a respectable professional police chief also.

Doug Smith has always been a liar and backstabber. Doug has always needed to put others down to make himself feel good. Lt Kirsten liked him and covered for him in the past on lies. Seems nothing has changed with him. Lt Harmon has been one of DiPino's platinum boys forever, why do you think he is LT. Earned it, lol.
I am most disturbed by the Ocean City police demanding letters form their employees asking if they commented publicly. So I am to believe that the leadership has special powers granted to them allowing them to speak publicly but if a regular cop talks its a federal offense. Is Ocean City part of the USA, apparently not!
DOJ where are you? Independent investigation is neccessary. This is outrageous.
This sgt is a first class dolt! He should be investigated and fired, no way he should be allowed to remain a supervisor after this rude, just nasty comments about people he encounters during his work day are published, if true, toss him out as an example to others. If true this cop is trash, a bottom dweller, scum and a loser...he must go.
Joe this is an amazing article, but its buried so far down people cant find it. gotta be moved up, expose this bum. This could have been your mom, sister, wife or mine he is speaking about. This needs the publics attention, it is buried so deep people wont find it and this dolt skates if nobody sees it.
