Wilmington -- The Delaware Department of Transportation (DelDOT) announces that, effective Friday, November 11, through Tuesday, November 22, there will be closures in alternate northbound and southbound directions along Route 1, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. at the Christiana Mall. The closures are necessary for the placement of the steel beams for the new Christiana Mall Road Bridge.
Northbound closures will occur on the evenings of Friday, November 11, Saturday, November 12, and Monday, November 14. Southbound closures will occur on the evenings of, Tuesday, November 15, through Saturday, November 19. Nighttime closures will also occur on both Monday, November 21, and Tuesday, November 22 - direction of closures will be determined.
Northbound motorists will be instructed to follow the posted detour route, exiting at Route 273 westbound, onto I-95 northbound, and back onto Route 7.
Southbound motorists will be instructed to follow the posted detour route, southbound I-95 to Route 273 eastbound, and back onto Route 1.

route 1 by the mall has to be the worst intersection ever. What genius chose to merge I-95, a major east coast artery, with DE-1, the major thouroughfare for the state with a 1-lane exit? Especially knowing the commerce that is likely to spring up in the area as we have now (mall and casino)
