Maryland Spends $2.3m On Renewable Energy For $637,000 In Savings

Maryland spent $2.3 million last fiscal year on a renewable energy grant program that brought in only $637,000 in savings, according to a report by the Maryland Energy Administration.

That means that Maryland residents recovered roughly $3 in energy savings for every $10 the state spent on the grant program, which helps homeowners pay for the purchase and installation of solar energy systems, geothermal heat pumps and small wind turbines.

"Maryland is leading the nation's efforts in clean energy and sustainability, and our state's growing green jobs sector is vital to our ability to create jobs and compete globally in the new economy," Gov. Martin O'Malley said.

Keep in mind, "renewable energy" is not cheap. It's only renewable. In today's economy, are you willing to pay 2 to 3 times for renewable energy?

I've been saying it on this blog for years.
Wind, solar, biofuels,...take away the heavy subsidies and that can't stand on thsir own two feet.
The best energy alternative is drill baby drill!

Same could be said in the not so distant past for the same energy source you are touting today.

If you notice every few years the govt comes up with a new type of plan for energy-bio-fuels,solar,wind,etc.Its all about jobs, not solving the energy crisis because if you look back they all go under.
