We turn all the lights off and hide from the kids after we put the beware of dog sign in the yard.
Haven't worked in 3 years , can't afford to buy candy or other give-aways.
Last year I told all the kids that came to my house to tell their parents to vote for anyone but obama , that's the reason they didn't get anything
Our son is now a teenager, so we don't have the excitement of costumes and watching him getting ready, but we still hand out candy. I can remember when I was a kid and how exciting it was to dress up and go trick-or-treating, so I want the kids today to have the same experience. I clip coupons and shop the sales for candy.
we have 2 little kids who dress up, my wife takes them trick or treating while i hand out candy. You don't have to spend a fortune to participate, go to the dollar store and get the cheap candy.
This year my kids are to old and I live in a developement with different nationalities and religions, so many of the youngier children won't have the experience. so I opted to do something for them. went to dollar tree and stocked up on goodies bags and treats, went to foodlion got some apples to bob for, and going to make cupcakes and punch and let the children have fun in our court yard. Nothing more precious then hearing a child's laughter...

scare the crap out of anybody who's got the b@lls to come up to the door for the candy. you want it you got to earn it. we are not a halloween socialist event!
We don't give "candy" any more, usually chips or pretzels. We do enjoy Halloween. We decorate, play spooky music outside with multi colored flashing lights in the house. It's gotten to be a tradition.
