Three Injured In Gumboro Accident

Location: Daisey Road approximately 1 mile west of Cypress Road, Gumboro, DE
Date and Time of Occurrence: Tuesday, October 11, 2011 at 10:40 a.m.

Gumboro, DE- The Delaware State Police investigated a two vehicle accident in which three people were injured that occurred this morning in Gumboro, DE.
The crash happened at approximately 10:40 a.m. this morning as Richard O’Neal, 23, was operating a 2004 Dodge Ram and was traveling eastbound on Daisey Road, in Gumboro, DE. For an unknown reason O’Neal’s vehicle entered into the westbound lane of Daisey Road where it struck a 1991 Chevrolet Silverado which was being operated by George Pierson, 69, and which was traveling westbound on Daisey Road. After the crash both vehicles traveled off of the roadway where they entered a ditch and overturned onto their sides.
Richard O’Neal was flown by Delaware State Police helicopter to the Peninsula Regional Medical Center where he was being treated for non life threatening injuries. A passenger in O’Neal’s vehicle, Isaac Farlow, 46, of Bridgeville, DE, was flown by a Medivac helicopter to the Christiana Hospital in Newark, DE where he was also treated for non life threatening injuries. George Pierson was removed from the scene by EMS and transported to the Peninsula Regional Medical Center where he was also treated for non life threatening injuries as well.
Richard O’Neal was cited by Troopers with failure to remain in a lane of travel. Daisey Road was closed to traffic for approximately one hour as the crash was investigated and cleared.
