Publishers Notes: I received this information earlier today and thought it might be best to put this up as a top post for all to be aware. There seems to be quite a problem with people shooting and or attempting to shot animals in the Rockawalkin area. We have been told these animals will more than likely have to be put down.

I live in Hunter's Mill and am an animal owner and lover. I just ran out to get mine in when I read this. If you remember, someone shot a cat with a bow and arrow a few years back and that was in this development. What area of Hunter's Mill was the cat in? There seems to be some sicko who gets off on harming helpless animals. We need to find out who is doing this.
hunters mill is not the only part of wicomico county that has cat killers! the town of pittsville does too ! janet rubin and her son mike rubin have been shooting cats with guns for years in that town.i understand the humane society has been told about it to no avail.
Sorry to be so blunt, but maybe the best thing to do is keep your cats home where they belong! Just because you love cats does not mean your neighbors do. We have problems in our neighbor hood with people dumping them off and the next thing you know they are spraying our bushes and running wild. We have a dog and keep him home where he belongs, so why can't you folks keep your cats home?

I agree, 8:02, but the question still must be asked: What in the world goes through someone's mind as he's killing someone's pet? As quoted above, that person/those persons are truly sickos!
I agree with 8:02 PM 100%. I had the real liftgate glass open on my SUV recently and someones cat jumped through the back window, went to the drivers seat and sprayed all over it. That was one cat I was mad enough to have killed, but to randomly shoot a cat is sick.
I think more of an animal than I do people, but your cat doesn't need to be spaying my car interior or pooping in my yard.
Keep your fricken cats in your home.

Agree, keep your cats IN YOUR HOUSE. My dog goes outside on a leash, my cats stay in the house. I can not stand a cat in my trash or walking all over my cars. I would not shoot them, just becuase its illegal. If it was and I cought one in the act game on.
There is no leash law for cats in any of the local counties,so technically pet owners can let them go where they want.Most indoor/outdoor pet cats stay close to home,and are not usually a nuisance.Anyone who would shoot a defenseless kitty is a real loser.The more I live among people, the more I prefer cats!

10:39PM Worcester County has cat roaming laws. They have to be on your property or they can be picked-up and you charged just like if it was your dog.
Cats can be a nuisance and should be kept on the owners property, but no one should ever shoot them.
People with such behavior usually start with helpless animals then graduate to people. One profile of a serial killer.

8:20 is entirely correct.We could be looking at an up and coming serial killer.The key at this point is to determine exactly who this person is.Drawing attention to ones adverse tendancies by identifying and categorizing them is the first step.That by itself will decrease the likelihood of repeat animal killing and the inevitable graduation to humans.
Recently a friend spoke to someone that runs the cat adoption @ Petsmart. Please be careful especially with Holloween approaching, black cats are targeted this time of year, it is a real threat. If you love them keep them in applies to cats and dogs till Holloween is over, there are sick people out there. I have never understood anyone allowing pets to roam, they are domesticated animals not wild carnavors. Getting fresh air and freedom is not when their facing the wheels of a vehicle--so not worth it.
I live in Hunters Mill and have tolerated an orange cat roaming throughout the yards. It lies in wait for birds and rabbits much to my dismay. However, I would never kill it. People need to keep their animals in their houses or fenced yards.

any cat roaming free should be considered feral (wild). wild animals do not belong in neighborhoods for fears of rabies. keep pets inside and wild animals outside.
All animals are from the wild......so now Cats have to be confined to a certain area? I am tired of people complaining just to complain. Do these cats really affect your everyday life to the extent you should complain about them online? When murders/home invasions/robberies are at a high in Salisbury people are worried about cats wondering around...get over yourself.

I have a cat that is 20 years old. You know why she's 20??? Because she is an INDOOR cat. Even our vet agrees. The average life span of an indoor/outdoor cat is, at most, 12 yrs. A strictly outdoor cat is only 8 yrs. Love your cat??? Keep in inside.
@ 12:32 I do not even own a cat. I just think it is stpuid of you people to get on here and complain about cats walking around like they aren't animals. What kind of actual sense does it make? The story is about 3 cats being shot with a freaking gun and you people are complaining about them maybe crossing through your yard.

If they would just "pass" thru the yars it would probably be ok, but they do not just "pass" thru. They stop and piss and spray on plants and bushes, they stop and crap, they walk on clean cars, they sleep wherever they like, they root thru trash cans, oh and did I mention they piss on EVERYTHING !!!
Ive got 3 feral cats behind my home and the neighbor just keeps feeding them and harboring them....she wont take their stinkin asses into the house...but she will feed them, give them treats, build them little shelters and even put medicine out for them to eat. I dont want these animals in my yard spraying under my camper and around my shed like they always do, but I have to accept it because the humane society will not pick them up, animal control will not pick them up....I'm left to my own devices then huh?
Sure wish people were more animal res ponsible. Keep them in if you want to have them!

i dont agree with killing for no reason,but i have over 45k invested in my show car(parts only did work myself)and cant leave it out of my garage for an hour before some cat walks on it.if the neighbors care about their d--- cat they should keep it inside.my dogs are even in a fences backyard when not in the house.guess how manytimes the cat has almost been caught,and the neighbor thinks its my fault.no name this time,neighbor probly reads this site
I agree that those who truly care about their cats should keep them inside.
I also agree that because a cat is outside is no reason to shoot it or in any way harm it.
I can also understand that having a neighbor whose cat frequently uses the bathroom in your yard, sprays on your house/bushes/etc, walks on your vehicles, would be an annoyance.
I would suggest to those in that situation to trap the cat and take it to the humane society. Perhaps once the neighbor has to pay the money to get their cat back they will learn to keep it indoors.
I also agree with those who say that this could be the first sign of a serial killer. There have been countless studies showing that most truly sick individuals start out harming animals.
