Rehoboth Beach Man Arrested After Attempted Robbery

-Attempted Robbery 2nd Degree
 
Arraigned at JP Court 3 and committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution for lack of $5000.00 secured bail.
 
 
Resume:
Rehoboth Beach, DE- A Rehoboth Beach, DE man has been arrested by the Delaware State Police following the attempted robbery of a Milton woman early this morning.
 
The incident occurred at approximately 1:05 a.m. as a 19 year old Milton, DE woman was seated in her parked car in the lot of the Walmart store located in the 18000 block of the Rehoboth Beach Mall, Rehoboth Beach, DE. The victim was then approached by a male subject who asked her for money so that he could get gas for his truck. The victim agreed and provided the subject with ten dollars. The subject, who because of a disability had to write down what he was saying, then asked the victim for more money. When the victim refused, the subject handed her a note advising her that he would hurt her if she did not comply. The victim then rolled up her car window and advised the subject that she was calling 9-1-1. The subject, later identified as Robert J. Ovens, then fled from the parking lot in a red truck. A short time later, Ovens was located traveling on Fisher Road in the area of SR 9 in Milton, DE. He was taken into custody without incident.
 
Robert Ovens was arrested and charged with the above crime. He was arraigned at JP Court 3 and committed to the Department of Corrections for lack of $5000.00 secured bail.
