Dover, Del. Perhaps crime does pay after all.
At least it will pay the state in the case of those who violate state law in the future to the tune of an anticipated $4.25 million in additional revenue.
Gov. Jack Markell has signed a bill designed to make perpetrators subsidize law enforcement agencies. Markell signed House Substitute 1 to House Bill 143 at the Delaware State Troopers Association headquarters in Cheswold on Tuesday.
“The concept of this bill is simple: those who violate our laws should fund efforts to reduce violent crime in our state,” Markell said. “Because the cost of crime is high, the price for those who commit crimes is now higher.
