Raise taxes, and they’ll move, constituents tell one delegate

In response to our story yesterday that the Maryland Budget and Tax Policy Institute was recommending $2.6 billion in new taxes, Del. I already shop out of state. Maryland just doesn't get it - I'd rather spend my money here cause I live here but as long as I can go to Delaware with no taxes, I will.

I plan to move to Delaware in the near future. While the city and county will continue to have the real estate tax revenue from the next owner, I am sure the income tax that I pay will be missed.

I do alot of shopping in DE just because it's more convenient if you live in northern Worcester county. West Fenwick has a Food Lion and Harris Teeter. Selbyville Family Dollar is just 5 minutes away and Lowes of Millsboro is closer than the Lowes in Salisbury and much less traffic.
I will drive to Berlin to hit the Save A Lot periodically.

"Under Maryland law, consumers who buy out of state products are supposed to pay a 6% "use" tax, but the state makes little effort to collect the tax from individual consumers."

There is a lot of business looking to get out of Maryland! and if my calls from people looking for business loctations in Delmar is any sign, Well Maryland better hold on to its hat!

Maryland's Eastern Shore should become part of Delaware. I truly believe this with all my heart. It is the logical thing to do. Those of us that live here would have it so much better.

I and many people I know shop in DE just because of the tax issues.

When Md. told me I couldn't smoke in bars I started watching my sporting events at home and saved enough money to put together the ultimate man cave with a big flat scrren, surround sound, and a big refrigerator stocked by fellow sports fans. When Md. upped the sales tax I started shopping in De. When Md. upped the liquor tax I started buying adult beverages in De. Md. lawmakers will have to increase taxes to keep up with what they are losing. They haven't a clue
