Yes, of course.

No!

Daddio said...

Yes!!

Anonymous said...

Yes I do! I offen wonder how one cannot when you look at the wonder of nature, see a baby born & read the prophecys , written years ago, that have come true in the Bible.

Anonymous said...

Yes and I'm glad I do

Anonymous said...

I most certainly do. It's ironic that you post this question right before asking for us to pray for George Chevalier's continued recovery. I am glad that I have a God that I can direct my prayers to!

Anonymous said...

Seeing that about George, I have to say, yes, I do, absolutely! believe in God.

andy said...

Give me something to believe in. House in foreclosure, truck got reposed, why would God let this happen.

Anonymous said...

Yes I do!!

Andre , chill out , if you had the faith of a mustard seed you could move a mountain.

Anonymous said...

I absolutely do without god I am not who I am

Anonymous said...

Andre, God is watching out for you. You're safe. I cannot answer your question, but I know that He's got your back.

Anonymous said...

There is no doubt in my mind that gods aura exists.

Anonymous said...

I am God.

Anonymous said...

Andre These are material things. If you have faith in God things will get better. When one door closes another one opens.
YES I believe in God. I would like to see one person MAKE just one blade of grass.
Those who do not believe in God who makes your grass/sand/life/sun/moon?? thought so.

Anonymous said...

No. Too many bad things happen to good people. Example: Sarah Foxwell.

I believe in science.

I bet these non believer turds would be praying to God if their flight was hijacked by terrorists and they had enough time to think about crashing into the Towers or the Pentagon! I bet these non believer turds would believe in God if they were bound and gagged by terrorist who were tightly holding a handful of hair as their terrorist buddies were preparing to set up the camera to video tape them cutting your head off with a dull knife.

12:15 I was thinking the same thing. When people say everything happens for a reason I always ask what is the reason behind a child being raped, tortured and murdered?I believe we are on our own here on earth but I do believe in God. I also believe prayer is a great way to communicate your feelings to God but I never ask him for anything because if it doesn't come true I don't want to be disappointed at God. I do ask him for strength but that's all. I hope that makes some sense.

@ndre, God cares about you but YOUR choices are what led you to where you are... God did not make you lose your truck or your job (if that's what happened) or your house. God is in control. Look back at your decisions and see why you are in this predicament. God will bless your decisions if they honor Him.

Anonymous said...

YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Drew said...

Yes

But not organized religion, their all about $$ and control. Nor the bible written by flawed men with an agenda.

Anonymous said...

The science says NO...and sorry, there is no Santa either.

Anonymous said...

any god would not let terrible things happen to children (sarah foxwell). people say "well heaven needed another angel". If he's God why couldn't he just make a new angel. Science has proven evolution, but people still believe in the ghost story. The greatest thinker of our time Stephen Hawking has all but stated that we are just computers that when we die...we die. I know it's hard to take, but that is the truth.

Anonymous said...

Andre....I know how you feel.

12:15 - I think the exact same thing!

12:58 - shut your mouth! Free speech or not, nobody wants to listen to someone's opinion when it is just full of hot air.

How many people lose their job and it had NOTHING to do with any poor choices they made?

I know people who have tried to only good all their lives, always look out for others, and yet get shit on over and over by other people's choices..not their own! Is this how God blesses their decisions???

Now for my post, yes I believe in God although I have had my moments of feeling abandoned. I don't agree with a lot that has happened in my life, but have learned that even if it is something so horrible and unwarranted, somehow there is a door opened because of it. I guess....

A few years ago, I went through a really terrible time personally. No, I didn't lose my job but I went through a terrible separation/divorce from my husband, a lot of my family and friends abondoned me, I was working 80 hours a week and barely seeing my children. At any given point I thought 'it can't get any worse' - and then it did. I reached the point where I just wished I wasn't living because the pain of my life wasn't worth it and I just didn't understand what was happening in my life- it wasn't the plan- it wasn't MY PLAN. I believed in God but I didn't have a relationship with him. I leaned on him more than ever during that low point in my life. I prayed, I went to church, and I believed. It did get better but it took time. Now, a few years later as I look back I thank God for the hard times to really appreciate when things are going well. I didn't understand why things were happening then- but I do understand why they did now. It may not always be the most obvious answer, it may not be part of your plan, it may not be what you want right now but it will make sense and you will prevail if you have faith in Him. Things happen around us i.e the housing market crisis because the banks and lawmakers failed us. There are consequences for all things and instead of blaming God- blame the real villians. God never said you wouldn't endure pain- but pain only makes you appreciate the GOOD and the BLESSINGS that do happen everyday, even more. The prosecutors and legal system failed Sarah. They should have NEVER let that man get away with the things he did time and time again. It is beyond unfortunate that her life was sacraficed in order for some things to begin to be changed. My faith is stronger than ever and is continuing to grow every day. So, my answer is YES I absolutely believe.

Anonymous said...

Yes I do. For the people who don't, I can understand how bitter you can be. You're thinking that life here on earth is all there is.

John Chapter 3 vs 16 check it out in the Bible said...

Not only do I believe in God but scripture informs us that even the DEMONS believe in God and tremble.

Anonymous said...

I accept the idea of a Higher a form, a diety if you want to call it that.
I do not accept the belief that is required by religion.

Anonymous said...

2:16 exactly, if it was just their time to go, and he just wanted another angel, he could even take them in a more peaceful way. But no, he seems it fit to take them in a long, horrific death. Just one of the many arguments about the existence of god.

Glad I live in a free country where I can believe and say what I want. Although now people will say "if you don't want to believe in god then get out of our country" or "you're not a true American". And it's always the people who say those things that call themselves true Christians. Those comments are not very Christian though.

andy said...

I know the things I'm losing are material, my actions isn't the reason I'm losing everything. I do feel blessed to have a wonderful wife and 3 great kids, they are my strength

Anonymous said...

2:16 Evolution is a theory. It has not been proven.

dan said...

4:51 - Technically, the Resurrection is a theory too. I am pretty sure you don't question that.

dan said...

I believe in a God / some sort of higher presence / creator sort of thing. More importantly, though, I belive that everyone else's beliefs are their own to do with what they want.

No book written by people long ago in a different language can tell me how I am supposed to have a relationship with God. Neither can any man tell me how I am supposed to follow rules written down by other men on how my relationship with God should be.

So, yes, I believe in a manner I see fit. It is the people that ruin it for me.

To (badly) quote Ghandi: "I like your Christ, it is your Christians I do not like. They are not like your Christ."

Believe whatever you want. You won't find out who is right until its too late to care.

Anonymous said...

Andre, I'm glad you are blessed with a wonderful family. They, right there, are proof of God.

I've been in some pretty tough economic situations, too, so I feel for you.

Maybe Joe needs to start posting some "Jobs Wanted" ads as well as the "Help Wanteds" he does from time to time.

If I knew what Andre is good at or looking for, I'd keep an ear open and let him know.

Maybe reaching out here is something you can believe in, Andre, along with your family and God. Maybe we can all pull together and make things a little easier for each other.

I used to be a Christian but after I stopped believing in god, I am not bitter at all! It feels so much better, like I can finally see clearly. I am not blind anymore. I do believe that when we die that's it, we are just dead. But that doesn't bother me at all, and it just makes me enjoy life on Earth that much more. After finally coming to the realization that I wasn't believing in something that didn't exist, I felt like I finally saw the light, so to speak. I would rather think realistically and logically than worship and pray to something that isn't there. Becoming an atheist was a GREAT experience to me. There is more to life than religion.

Anonymous said...

Yes I do. I believe in God and his two sons, Jesus Christ, and Brooks Robinson.

Anonymous said...

yes, i am a disciple of Jesus Christ. i was 27 years old before anyone truly shared the "gospel (good news) with me through a bible study. after 3 months my eyes were opened and i was able to receive the forgiveness i needed. i'm now 64 years old and have led many others to Jesus in a loving way. Jesus is The Way, The Truth and The Life and NO MAN comes to The Father except by Him. there is NO OTHER WAY. it is recorded that more than 500 people saw Jesus after He rose from the dead. that is many more people than saw napoleon and recorded it. Jesus died for ALL mankind and He wants no one to perish. it's still a decision that each individual has to make for himself. you must be born again and have a PERSONAL relationship with the True and the Living God. again; there is no other way.
IF I'M WRONG AND CONTINUE LIVING THIS WONDERFUL CHRISTIAN LIFE, I HAVE NOTHING TO LOSE.
IF YOUR WRONG YOU HAVE EVERYTHING TO LOSE.....

Without a doubt!

Read the book--- "When Bad Things Happen to Good People." It'll explain a lot! It's God that gets you through the hard times---He doesn't cause it---the things of this world do!

Anonymous said...

416--

Amen to that. Tribulations happen and only enhances your faith.

Anonymous said...

558 You gave up your faith because of something greater dragging you down. You need the confession box.

Anonymous said...

James 2 19
You have the belief that God is one, and you do well: the evil spirits have the same belief, shaking with fear.

I didn't give up for any particular reason, I just started thinking about how nothing in Christianity seems logical or realistic and is not supported by science or reason. Nothing happened that made me question it. I just believe there is no evidence to support it.

Anonymous said...

If there is no God, then who says bad things happen- and who cares?

in other words, who exactly determines what is right and what is wrong? There is a holy God who owes his creatures nothing - we are the ones that are completely beholden to Him. Defining God by what he has or has not done for us just proves the nature of our sinful hearts. Someday we will all give an account. I'm thankful that Christ has paid the debt I am not capable of paying.

Anonymous said...

yes 948 there's a song that says:

i owed a debt i could not pay,
He paid a debt He did not owe,
i needed someone to wash my sins away,
and now i sing a brand new song "amazing grace",
Christ Jesus paid the debt that i could never pay.......

Anonymous said...

nope! but its funny to see this question turn into a freaking bible study LOL. there are no scientific facts to prove. evolution is proven.

the unknown is at the root of all fear

the greatest unknown is where people go when they die

therefore the greatest fear is death. . .where will I go when I die?

will we return to the nothingness that we were all born out of?

a terrifying thought. Not existing.

I am sure that every man and woman
has thought it at least once in their life.

Its a terrifying enough thought for a clever man to capitalize on.

using stories of a possible afterlife. . .in exchange for certain behaviors while on this earth. . .for control.

. . .and a terrifying enough thought for men to find comfort in stories which cannot be proven

. . .of course they cannot be disproven either. . .this allows the truly skilled practitioner to use the gospels like a crude political weapon

Thomas Jefferson had some thoughts on the issue:

The whole history of these books [the Gospels] is so defective and doubtful that it seems vain to attempt minute enquiry into it: and such tricks have been played with their text, and with the texts of other books relating to them, that we have a right, from that cause, to entertain much doubt what parts of them are genuine. In the New Testament there is internal evidence that parts of it have proceeded from an extraordinary man; and that other parts are of the fabric of very inferior minds. It is as easy to separate those parts, as to pick out diamonds from dunghills.
-Thomas Jefferson

My opinion is that there would never have been an infidel, if there had never been a priest. The artificial structures they have built on the purest of all moral systems, for the purpose of deriving from it pence and power, revolts those who think for themselves, and who read in that system only what is really there.

-Thomas Jefferson

There are innumerable quotes by Jefferson on this matter. . .as for myself. . .I have to say the only logical position, for myself, is to admit that I don't know. . .but lean towards atheism.

Its our responsibility to do good deeds just because. Not for a favor with a expectation of a return of something greater. You do things because it is the right thing to do for the greater good of mankind. These people walking around caught up in the throws of the seven cardinal sins have a deep rooted problem of having lost or not knowing what true "peace" is and are sadly, lost souls that I pity. God should be the number one driving force of everything you do. We have lost sight of what life is. The Greed and slothing in this country is why we are in such a state of sad affairs. I truly know there is a God and I also believe that this community is on the brink of a wrath that is going to shock the community. With the sound of trumpets, will come the appearance of the locusts like horses prepared for battle; and on their heads will be what appears to be crowns like gold, and their faces were like the faces of men.
They had hair like the hair of women, and their teeth were like the teeth of a lion. They will have breastplates like breastplates of iron; and the sound of their wings wll be like the sound of chariots, of many horses rushing to battle. They have tails like scorpions, and stings; and in their tails is their power to hurt men for five months. The first woe is past; behold, two woes are still coming after these things. And this is how I see in the vision the horses and those who sat on them: the riders had breastplates the color of fire and of hyacinth and of brimstone; and the heads of the horses are like the heads of lions; and out of their mouths proceed fire and smoke and brimstone. The mankind who did not repent of the works of their hands, so as not to worship demons, and the idols of gold and of silver and of brass and of stone and of wood, which can neither see nor hear nor walk; and they did not repent of their murders, nor of their drugs, nor of their immorality, nor of their thefts. God will justify. Can I get a witness? My God is great!

Anonymous said...

9:48, do you really need god to tell you what's right and wrong? I think common sense should be able to tell you that. I find it hard to believe that you truly only believe murder is wrong only because god said so. You should be able to understand why murder is wrong on your own.

Anonymous said...

See above post by Drew, he mirrors my beliefs exactly. God yes, religion by mankind, no.

Anonymous said...

I have always believed in God but never went to church I believe alot of churches are using God to aquire money. I do know God exists on February 25th my son was in a terrible accident and he only lived because of God was riding with him and he has a purpose for giving us our son back.If you looked at the car you would say there is no way anyone could have lived through that but God was riding with him that terrible night and is still riding along with all of us.I found after the accident just how many people who believe in God offered us help and it was greatly appreciated. We thank God everyday we are here.Praise God!!!!!

Anonymous said...

221 Praise God. There is a purpose and meaning behind his grace.

Anonymous said...

Sorry 2:21pm but it was luck. Were you and your son my important to God than Sarah Foxwell? I find it difficult when people say that they survived something because of God when so may others don't survive. Does that mean God doesn't care about them?

Anonymous said...

Yes

Anonymous said...

Evolution is theory, not fact. More and more scientists are even thinking and believing that the universe came into existence by intelligent design. Search for the truth...the real truth. Once I really believed, the Holy Spirit of the living God entered my being and I have never been the same. When you know you're forgiven for everything you've ever done or said which is against God's principles, the burdens are lifted. God wants Christians to help ease the burdens of others. Don't preach...just do and give! And then give God the glory and praise that you are able to help someone else. That's what it's all about. Just be a willing vessel for God to use and don't get in His way.

5:19 I know exactly what you mean.

Someone I know was killed in Iraq. Another friend of mine's cousin was unable to go to Iraq because of a medical condition, and they believed it was god giving them that condition to keep them from being deployed. I found that so offensive because it implies that god didn't feel any of the other soldiers who went to Iraq/died in Iraq were worth saving.
