A 50-year-old man was killed Thursday in a fiery single-car crash 5 miles west of Millsboro, state police said this morning.
The accident happened about noon on Careys Camp Road north of Laurel Road (Del. 24).
William P Karbonick Jr. of Lewes was driving north in a 1990 Toyota Corolla when it went off the east side of the road on a curve into a 10-foot drainage ditch, partially overturning.
A fire in the engine compartment quickly consumed the rest of the car, trapping Karbonick, said Sgt. Paul Shavack.
Karbonick was pronounced dead at the scene. His body was turned over to the state Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy..
The road was closed more than two hours
