Salisbury Police to Begin Endowments

At yesterday’s Salisbury City Council work session, the council agreed to move forward with legislation that allows the Salisbury Police Department to establish two endowments with the Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore.  One endowment would be used to award scholarships for women and minority recruits to obtain law enforcement training at Wor-Wic Community College.  The second endowment would help to fund the re-establishment of a mounted unit with the SPD.

According to Spicer Bell of the Community Foundation, at least $20,000 would be needed to establish the two endowments.  Upon formal approval by the city council, fundraising could begin.
