Dunbar Or Dumber?

Joe,

I wanted to share with you an experience that I had on Tuesday morning.  I decided to leave the house a few minutes early to stop and get some coffee from the Royal Farms in Hebron. I pulled in got my goods and headed for the door.  While exiting the store I noticed that a Dunbar truck had parked behind me. I asked the driver if he could pull forward to allow me to exit, he told me that I would have to speak to the Dunbar rep inside of the store.  I returned inside and asked the gentleman if he could please move his truck forward to allow me to

exit as I had to be to work.  The response I got, "Well if you ask him real nicely he might, but I'm not going to move it either way." This statement made with a snicker and laugh.  I explained that I had to be to work and would be late. That's when the store manager got involved asking the Dunbar rep to move his truck.  The Dunbar rep informed both of us he was going to do NO such thing.

With further review I noticed that the truck could have easily been parked in front of the curb not blocking anyone in.  The Royal Farms manager was very upset with the Dunbar rep and stated that this was not the first time that he had an issue at this location.  She began to call Dunbar and file a complaint. Mean while, I waited approximately 20 minutes before I could leave the location.

At this point I was late for work and very frustrated with how I was treated.  I have attached a photo showing that the truck could have easily been pulled all of the way up next to the curb blocking no one.  I think that is called common sense???? Oh, they gave this guy a gun!!!

Get the truck number from the manager and file a complaint also. I'm sure the company would like to know about this rude and arrogant driver.

I think after 5 or 10 minutes I would have called a cop.

They should have paid you an hour's time right from the back of the truck.

let's see guarding hundreds of thousands of dollars, given a gun to go along with their crappy atitude all while making minimum wage! surprised the ignoranous didn't shoot you! lol!

This is where decency goes out the window and a hand goes up beside his head! Sometimes you just have to stand up for what's right and consequences be damned.

just a suggestion here...... Find out from the store manager what time that truck is due back at the store. Plan ahead to have 2 vehicles ready and once the truck is parked, have one vehicle park immidiately behind it and the other immediately in front of it. Leave the cars there for as long as possible. I bet they get the message then...........

What a jerk!! I applaud the Store Manager for filing a complaint with this company. Hopefully this butt hole will be forced to the unemployment line.

Incessant blowing of the horn?

Backing up and back several times trying to wiggle out?

Throwing cups of snow/mud on the windshield?

Calling the cops?

Following them for the rest of the day - blocking them in at each location?

Let me see, can I think of ways to get back at these folks?

Calling Royal Farms Corporation?

Placing a sign on the windshield appologizing in advance for backing into their truck? (a really large sign)

How about showing up every day when the truck comes - from now until next July?

I am cancelling my contract with Dunbar for this same reason... their attitudes!

Went to school with CEO Kevin Dunbar, the rude arrogance probably trickles down from the top.

I was informed that the driver must maintain a visual on his partner in the store. Would pulling forward or backwards have blocked his vision of in the store?

I have seen many many armored trucks and I have to say from witnessing them at work there has never been a time I witnessed an armored truck sitting at one location for 20 minutes. Is it possible you are elaborating a bit to make more of a story? Or possibly you were so distraught by not getting your way that your facts have become distorted?

10:09 I like your style

11:33....

You are an idiot. It doesn't matter if they were there 10 mins, they should have had the courtesy NOT to park behind someone knowing good and well most people are in and out of the gas station in about 2 mins. As far as blocking the view of the driver, moving the vehicle 5 feet forward would not have kept the guy inside from seeing the driver considering there are windows around the whole front of the store.

Get a hobby. Or a better yet, a job you moron.

Not trying to play devil's advocate.. But that Honda could easily maneuver out of that spot, despite the inconsiderate Dunbar employees.

Was his name Barney Fife?

12:45 actually you are wrong if you look at the photo provided and compare it to the actual front of the building if the driver would have pulled forward there is a column and then a covering over the windows, so no he would not have been able to see inside the building. Granted he could have put it in reverse. However beings as though the person complaining wrote into a blog to vent about her/his frustration I would assume the person was not being very respectful when asking the driver to move, therefore protocal does allow the drive to say "no".

I guess you are just another one of those people that think the world should cater to them. Oh and by the way you have yourself a very merry Christmas and a safe New Year!

1:50 You too are a idiot. Perhaps if you read the story once more you will realize, the representative was asked nicely if he would move the truck. It was the representative who made the inconsiderate remarks to the driver of the Honda who was quickly stopping before work. Once the Honda driver was treated disrespectfully without a doubt frustration grew. How do you know what the parking ability was? Don't be so quick to judge. This Dunbar rep was completely out of line and could have used better judgement on parking his truck without blocking someone's car in. I guess you are one of those inconsiderate people that cannot manage to use common sense.

Thats a good way to get shot, they could possibly think you are trying to rob them if you pull up like that. Not so bright....how about just complaining to the manager

11:33 the Dunbar driver was rude and inconsiderate. When I park my car I should not have to wonder if someone is going to block me in. It is common sense that this man should be able to get in his car and leave. If the Dunbar drivers needed a better view they should have WAITED for an open spot. Sorry just because they are on the job does not excuse poor behavior and a need to inconvenience others.

they did the same to me,but nice to know the details as next time i see them i will be parking my rather large construction vehicle directly behind their truck and get coffee.what comes around, goes around dunbar.BTW-- good friend of mine is former worker of dunbar, and yes, they hire some real morons and thiefs.

Thank you, thank you, thank you.

I have had a long standing disgust for this company’s employees.
Years ago, when the Giant food store (north location) was still open, they would park in the direct path of pedestrians going into and out of the store where the curb is reduced (handicap access area) for patrons to push their shopping carts to the parking lot (driver could NOT see the other employee inside the store). At that time, I witnessed an elderly lady have to go farther up the sidewalk, push her cart off the curb to get around the truck, and almost dumped the cart over. This bothered me to the point where I politely informed the DUMBAR employees that if they parked their truck another 15 feet forward, they would not impede patron’s access to the store. I recall their responses were they didn’t care, not interested in listening and wouldn’t respond when I asked them for the name and phone number of their supervisor. Later that day, I saw them park at the Wawa, blocking access to the handicap parking space. I knew it was useless to talk to them again. I called the company’s headquarters (out in California at the time) to complain, giving the tag number and truck number to the employee on the phone.

I witnessed this same company’s employees lack of respect again, recently, at the Royal Farms store by Main St, near the underpass. Some guy was exiting the store, reaching for his car door when the truck pulled up behind him, blocking him in. He gestured to the driver (who had not yet put the truck in park) to move a little forward so he could get out of the parking space. No luck. I could understand how the guy’s frustration increased due to lack of respect this company’s employees have. I would not hire them and if I currently did have them working for me, I would find another company to replace them.

I have wished I had the time and a friend nearby where I and my friend could lie down in front and behind the truck, BLOCKING them from moving until the cops show up.

4:17...."good way to get shot"? You mean if they THINK there migh be a robbery ABOUT to occur, they can open fire on whomever they THINK might be involved? I HOPE that isn't the official company policy.... The police may not like that idea....THEY are the only ones allowed to kill people and THEN figure things out...they wouldn't like anyone horning in on their territory...

Ive seen other people on the shore do something similar when they park. Stop in the middle of the road/roadway to talk to someone or stop for whatever reason. There is no consideration from the general public here, deal with it. I once encountered 2 cars in the middle of Gordy rd in Salisbury stopped to talk. Unless it effects them, the majority of people here dont give a sh1t about you. They care even less if you are a come here.
