Several administrative changes for Wicomico County Public Schools will take effect on Jan. 3. The adjustments in school administrative leadership teams are related to filling an administrative vacancy and ensuring that school leadership staff are in place in all schools to best meet the needs of students, said Dr. Margo Handy, Assistant Superintendent of Instruction and Student Services. The mid-year adjustments will ensure stability and consistency in the affected schools.
Leadership teams in the affected schools, effective Jan. 3, will be:
Beaver Run Elementary:
Principal - William Curtis (no change)
Acting Assistant Principal – to be announced
Delmar Elementary:
Acting Principal - Judy Nicholson
Assistant Principal - Karen Parsons
Assistant Principal – Dr. Kathy Vail
Glen Avenue Elementary:
Principal - Michael Collins (no change)
Assistant Principal - Larry Collins
Prince Street Elementary:
Principal - Chris Nunzio

Wow! I bet there is quite a story THERE! Scott Fowler is no longer Principal at Prince St after less than 2yrs. Chris Nunzio and Larry Collins were both moved out of Delmar to other locations. And Beaver Run is without an Assistant Principal. Beaver run never having kept an Assistant Principal more than two years since William Curtis was moved there. Seems, from the outside looking in, that there were big problems in those schools in order for there to be mid year changes. Tell us more Joe!
They should have moved one other principal :)

Wow...Fowler must have really screwed up. He was useless anyway and has no idea how to talk to parents, staff, or kids. No wonder he got the boot.
The rumor going around with the parents is that he is on administrative leave and may end up back as a teacher.

This is more of the same from WCBOE. Lies to cover up the problems. Shuffle the deck and hope nobody notices. It's a continuation of the crap they pulled last year when they moved ALL of the administrators who liked the magnet program to the most failing schools in the district. They wonder why they can't succeed? They have administrators who prefer to buy houses they can't afford to being active in the success of their schools.
Fredericksen must go! Worst superintendent in years. He needs to take Margo Handy with him.
Delmar Elementary, you are very lucky. Mrs. Nicholson was Asst. Principal at Fruitland Intermediate when my son attended and she was top notch!
Why was Fowler let go? I can't find anything online that he did anything criminal to be fired. Why would a Principal be demoted to a teacher?

That is BS. Where did you get that from? Sounds like a convenient excuse to me. The BOE
would have allowed him to take medical leave if he was having surgery, not move Mr. Nunzio in from another school.
Interesting that you are saying it is medical when the truth is that he could not do the job. Quit making excuses for him and tell it how it is...he was not effective and he had to be replaced.
8:56--he was at Prince Street. Have you been to Prince Street? He's lucky to get out of there alive. The district does not care about students! When will we figure that out? They just spent almost 100 grand to buy a house near the Early Learning Center but they have to make cuts in education?
I have heard nothing but excellent, rave reviews about Dr. Vail from Beaver Run School.

Yes and to be truthful, I work at that school and believe in the students I work with.
Unfortunately, Mr. Fowler was ineffective, did not know how to talk to his staff and talked down to the students. He left early on many days and never was supportive of the staff.
We may have some very difficult children that come from some rough homes but they still deserve a chance to learn. The staff is great and just needs a person to guide and believe in them. Mr. Fowler was not that person!
Good luck Prince Street. Nunzio is not a very supportive or friendly administrator either. Just look at his history. After he comes to a school alot of the staff and faculty ask for transfers. Alot of complains filed against him because he too yells and belittles staff and faculty in front of children and parents. Also known to not be able to tell the truth.
It's a new year and a new beginning for all the schools effected. Good Luck!
Fowler is on a medical leave of absence - He was taken to the ER a few weeks ago, and he is having health problems and can't continue right now. To all of you so sure that he screwed up, check you facts - he just prefered to not die on the job!
Oh this is so silly. I AM an administrator in the county, I and I have know Scott Fowler for 20 years. He was doing fine until he had to be taken to the hospital for chest pains. They were worried he might have a heart attack, but the truth was even scarier - he was dangerously close to having a STROKE due to job stress. For those (including the apparent teacher that cited he left early on most days) he DID, because he has a criticially ill child at home that nearly died three times and has had multiple health problems. Think THAT might have had something to do with his stress level? That same teacher probably needed to see him at work every day between 5:30 and 6 a.m. before having the nerve to say anything. The truth is, the guy had so much stress on him he nearly DIED! I know he suffered through at least two ulsers, and was throwing up blood coming into work about April of last year. He even came to work with pnemonia this year, and the Great Margo Handy chewed him out for that - can you believe that? For those hungering for a story - that's it. As for his job performance, I know for a fact that he stood up to his central office controlers who wanted him to throw out half the staff for no real good reason. Furthermore, they stuck him with two high profile teacher cases that have been nothing but problems for years in addition to two VERY high profile special ed cases that were so poorly handeled by the central office staff he had to fix their mess as well (embarassing several of them in the process and making them all upset in the process). Scott worked at Prince for 8 years, was know to do multiple home visits, and was very much a no nosense guy who led by example. But, when it comes down to a cardiac surgeon, who is on consult with Hopkins telling the guy to quit before it kills him, there is just really no choice is there? There guy simply choose his life, his wife and his family over this job. As for his return to teaching, I spoke to him the other day, and he said he is done with public ed. He an his wife want to move from the area, and after reading some of these posts, I frankly agree with him. After twenty years of dedicated service, they had the man replaced before the chair even got cold. So, to all of you that think there is some sort of cover up, look much higher up the food chain than Scott - they never gave him a fighting chance over in that hell hole, and expected the impossible - they were setting him up all along becasue he was NOT a yes man and actually had the nerve and integrety to do the right things in life. THERE is the story for all those hungering for blood, Go choke on that - not that anyone will read this post at this late date....
I am sorry to hear that Mr. Fowler has had so many health problems and I do wish him luck with that. However, I am one of the parents that he did not know how to speak to and had a child in his school that he was completely ineffective with. You would think that if he has a child who has health problems that he would be MORE empathetic toward children with special needs. I have no problem with no non-sense, I consider myself to be the same, but there were many times he was just plain rude. I never once saw him fight for my child. Instead he made it very clear to everyone around that he considered my child to be a burden. Maybe he did fight against the Board of Ed. I can agree that they would much rather get rid of a problem than try to fix it. I just know that my interactions with him were not positive and his people skills left a lot to be desired

I didnt read anything about larry collins ??? God knows there much to tell!! His old school thinking that kids with learning disabilities is a convenient excuse for problem children. That school funds are wasted on "accommodations" for theses kids. He is a bully and I would like to know why he has been passed around from 3 different schools in the last year?
Dear poster of the comment at 1:07 p.m., thank you for setting the record straight. I am now retired from the BOE, and have refrained from posting any comments until now as it could have cost me my job - I've known Scott for a long time, and he did NOT have a nervous breakdown, nor was he a jerk to others. He was well regarded by his colleagues, and was especially highly thought of by MANY parents, secretaries, facility and maintenance staff, custodians and nursing staff, cafeteria staff, and his teachers. The guy always took the extra few minutes to see how others were doing, something I rarely saw other principals take time for - in short, he is a good man, and now that he has moved on to greener pastures, he will be missed.
