So what have we learned in 2,065 years?
"The budget should be balanced, the Treasury should be refilled, public debt should be reduced, the arrogance of officialdom should be tempered and controlled, and the assistance to foreign lands should be curtailed lest Rome become bankrupt. People must again learn to work, instead of living on public assistance." Cicero - 55 BC
Evidently Nothing !!!

That's the actual quote from Cicero. Seems someone added quite a bit to it to make it seem so appropriate.
We had a balanced budget and no wars, then Bush arrived.
"Then Bush arived"
Funny, I guess we forgot the COUNTLESS bombimg missions to Iraq during the mid to late 90's, Bosnia, Somalia, and a few little known "police actions" around the globe the peace loving Dixiecratic Clinton Administration signed off on.
Don't worry, Obama will have the country in such an uproar that peole are already begging for the Republicans to come back.
Long Live Rome
Well, those who don't learn from history are bound to repeat it. The roman empire failed to do those things and we all know what happened to the empire. They are no longer here. Smart people around the world are already predicting the downfall of this country. Something NO ONE would have thought about 25 years ago. So-- let's crank up the spending, put more people on disability, SSI, welfare, and "Independence Cards" and get the party started!!
