(Hagerstown, MD) – Maryland State Police Superintendent Colonel Terrence B. Sheridan and Department of General Services Secretary Alvin C. Collins will be joined by state and local officials as they mark the commencement of construction of the new, multi-purpose, Hagerstown Barrack.
In addition to remarks, officials will participate in a ceremonial groundbreaking to help get the job started. Construction is beginning on a new 33,000-square feet building that will more than triple the size of the existing facility. The new building will provide office space for the Maryland Natural Resources Police and the Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office. It will also expand the available space for the Western Regional Forensic Sciences Laboratory to more than six times its existing space and enable scientists to increase services provided to state and local law enforcement in Western Maryland.

Triple the size of the existing facility and six times the lab space...hmmmm...I got a feeling that we are gonna be "served and protected" a WHOLE LOT more in the coming fiscal year....a LOT more "enforcement zones", speed traps, seat belt "campaigns", aircraft surveillance, "agressive driving" patrols, and the ever favorite nazi "checkpoints"....thats in addition to the taxes, fees, and contributions that keep us so well "served" and "protected" already...it hasn't even been built and I already feel safer and more "protected"....
NO, Please politicians listen, upgrade , paint little hard work on old one, we as tax payers please stop the spending, please.
The old barrack was ragged. It needed to be replaced.
