On Monday, August 23, 2010, Beau H. Oglesby was contacted by a member of the press advising that a small claim had been filed against him by Thom Gulyas. Mr. Oglesby has not seen the lawsuit and so can only speculate as to the details of allegations, but released the following statement:
In the Fall of 2006, Thom Gulyas was a big supporter of Beau Oglesby’s campaign for State’s Attorney. As such, he convinced Oglesby to use his services for a direct mailing in the closing days of the campaign. Gulyas was told to limit the scope of the mailing to that which would be covered by the balance in Oglesby’s campaign account. However, Gulyas insisted on expanding the coverage of the mailing, agreeing that his estimated $6000 in additional printing and mailing cost would be viewed as a campaign contribution from his wife and him. Nevertheless, over a year after the campaign had ended and the campaign account had been closed, Gulyas contacted Oglesby and requested additional payment for the work that had been contributed.
“Thom and Belinda made a generous donation to my campaign, and I was shocked to learn that a year later he was asking for his donation back, in effect. Despite our prior agreement which created no legal obligation to repay the additional money, I decided that I would refund his donation from my new account as soon as it became active. Despite the fact that the statute of limitations had already passed, a fact that Thom and I had discussed, I made a $2000 payment in July of 2010 after my first fundraiser for my new campaign account.
“Now that Thom has publicly endorsed my opponent, the timing of this frivolous lawsuit just 2 months before the election, a lawsuit that he knows is barred by the statute of limitations, speaks for itself.
“When all of the facts are made known, I believe the lawsuit will be dismissed whenever it goes to court. In the meantime, I will continue to focus my campaign in a positive direction.”

Was the orginal debt listed as an "in-kind" donation on the financial report from the last election to support Ogelsby's contention?
The slander and accusations that are against Beau are only due to the fact that Joel Todd is feeling the heat in this election. IF he was really confident that he could win this election, he nor his endorsements would have to resort to this kind of childish and ignorant type of behavior. Beau Olgesby is by far a very honorable person. Keep your chin up, Beau. You WILL come on top of this.
To those defending ther business, save it for the court room. Unless you're going to use your real name, your comment will not get published. Fair is fair.
12:41 Let me give you more specifics of Joel Todd... The shoddy job with the Thomas Legg's case. Lost photos, no sex crime charge for his pants down, etc. If he had been charged with some sort of sex crime, would he have been on the streets at Christmas time??? Second, his son WAS employeed at the Maryland State Police as a trooper. The only reason, that he was employeed for a period of time, was because of his father. That same good ole boy B.S. that is typical for this area. Look into how may accidents that man had on and off of the job. Anyone other trooper who had a suspended driver's license would have been FIRED from MSP!!! Not Joel Todd's son! He only had his job because of who his daddy is. To me that is abuse of his power as a state's attorney. I, for one, am tired of all the good ole boy networks around here. And last but not least, Beau's personal life with his family is not your or my business. When you have a "Pleasantville" type of marriage/life, then you can spout off at the mouth about marriages. Until then, speak only of what you know about.
Beau also had a impecible record as a states attorney in Wicomico. He is sadly missed by many in Wicomico. I, personally, know that he was one hell of a good prosecutor.
There will always be naysayers such as yourself.
2:10 this is 12:41. You missed the point. I was not supporting Todd over Oglesby. I am simply saying that the person who posted that Beau will come out on top is sadly misreading the EXACT problems you mention - that is why Todd will win - he's too much of a good ole boy and that system is alive and well in Worcester County which, mind you, was at one time 5-1 Democrats over Republicans. By the way, Todd's son was fired by MSP so that's not an issue.
Joel Todd has alot to be concerned about as he only won by 14 votes last election.
Another thing quite a few of us Todd supporters sre sick over the way he has allowed a few malcontents to hijack his Facebook page. Now these same troublemakers are on Reggie Mason's site attempting to make a ruckus.
A little word to the wise of the malcontents-if you would have spent less time on the computer making assinine comments maybe both of you wouldn't be losing your homes to foreclosure. Afterall isn't "karma" something ya'll preach?
In my usual fashion I was going to make a lengthy response to this post. But, thanks to ALL of the above comments, I don't have to. You've all done a wonderful job!!
I was considering Thom's business for a mailing for my campaign for Worcester Board of Education. So much for that!
A prediction: There will be a new ambulance chaser in Worcester County in January.

I guess what I still don't understand about all of this is why did Mr. Gulyas support Mr. Oglesby so strongly last election and then in this election he is working against Mr. Oglesby? I thought Republicans were supposed to stick together. That makes me think that there must be something to this accusation. Are you all saying that Mr. Todd or the Democrats or both have enough persuasive power to make two people who used to be friends and strong supporters of each other turn against each other?
