GOVERNOR MARTIN O’MALLEY, U.S. NAVY SECRETARY TO CONVENE MEETING OF BASE COMMANDERS ON EFFORTS TO RESTORE CHESAPEAKE BAY

ANNAPOLIS, MD – Governor Martin O’Malley will join Secretary of the Navy Ray Mabus, Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Lisa Jackson, and military commanders of Chesapeake Bay-area bases to discuss Bay restoration efforts, and ways the commanders and their bases can assist in restoring the Bay. Media representatives wishing to cover the conference, beginning at noon, should contact the U.S. Naval Academy Public Affairs Office by 5 p.m. today for access information 410-293-2292.

During the conference, media may attend opening remarks by Governor O’Malley, Secretary Mabus, and EPA Administrator Jackson at noon. Following opening remarks, these officials will be available for the media at 1:00 p.m. After the media availability, media representatives are invited to see two examples of Chesapeake Bay restoration projects and hear from subject matter experts in the field associated with U.S. Naval Academy’s research on oyster aquaculture and Naval Support Activity Annapolis’ storm water run-off project.

Why is it MD Politians are so gung-ho about the Bay, but they do nothing about the pollution coming from other States such as Penn emptying their contaminates into the Bay? Where is their tax dollars for clean-up? Md Tax Payers cannot pay for everybody elses bills and liabilities..
