SHOREBIRDS GAME NOTES: 8/3 @ West Virginia

PREVIEW: The Shorebirds aim to level the series after a 4-3 defeat last night. Kenny Moreland surrendered four runs in the first inning last night. The Power went scoreless in their final seven innings at the plate. The ‘Birds plated three runs in the fifth but fell short. The Shorebirds are now in a three-way tie for fourth place in the Northern Division, eight games back of Lakewood.

HITTING SAFELY: Outfielder Steve Bumbry has hit safely in nine of his last 11 games. He takes a five-game hit streak into game two against the Power. Bumbry’s season high hit streak is six, accomplished between April 9 and April 16.

5 OF 9: Garabez Rosa has five multi-hit games in his last nine games. His batting is above .250 for the first time since July 2 (.251). Rosa has 16 hits in his last nine games.

FLACCO HITTING: Mike Flacco has recorded a hit in seven of his eight games in a ‘Birds uniform this season. In 30 games at the short-season level this season (Aberdeen Ironbirds), Flacco hit just .250 (25-100).

3 MULTI-HIT GAMES: Omar Casamayor has three multi-hit games in his last four games. He has 11 hits in 12 games played for the Shorebirds. He has just five strikeouts in his first 47 at-bats for the ‘Birds.
