PREVIEW: The Delmarva Shorebirds scored two runs in the eighth inning to break a 4-4 tie to defeat West Virginia last night. The ‘Birds look for their first five-game series sweep of the season. The Shorebirds have just one series sweep this season against Kannapolis between 6/14 and 6/16. The Shorebirds pulled within 2.5 games of Lakewood, who did not play last night due to weather in Kannapolis.
STARTING PITCHING SUCCESS: Over the last 11 games, Shorebirds starting pitching has allowed just 39 hits and four earned runs in 65.1 innings pitched. Further, the 11 starters have combined to strike out 59 batters with just 13 walks.
