Salisbury Police Department Press Releases

Kwame Lavonte Brown, 18yoa of Salisbury, MD was charged with Resisting Arrest, Possession of Regulated Firearm Under 21yoa, Wear and Carry a Handgun, and Possess a Regulated Firearm after being Convicted of a Disqualifying Crime.

On June 15, 2010 at approximately 8:21am an officer responded to the FoxField Apartment Complex for the report of a suspicious person. On arrival, the officer met with the complaining party who advised that a black male has been lying on the slide located in the playground area of the complex. According to the complainant, the black male had been there for approximately 45 minutes and has not moved. The officer observed the black male on the slide and attempted to wake him up. When the black male did wake up he met with the officer on the ground. The black male took a fighting stance and kept his right side away from the officer.

The officer was able to identify the black male as Brown who lives in the complex but was locked out of his apartment. The officer asked Brown if he had any weapons on his person that he should know about. Brown became instantly nervous and grabbed at his right pocket. The officer removed Brown’s hand from the pocket and immediately patted Brown down for weapons. The officer located a .38 caliber handgun in Brown’s right front pocket. Brown attempted to resist arrest as the officer was placing handcuffs on him. It was later learned that Brown had a previous misdemeanor conviction in Worcester County, MD. A wanted check was also conducted and Brown was found to be wanted in Worcester County, MD for Failing to Appear in court on June 2, 2010.

On June 16, 2010 at approximately 9:53pm, officers from the Salisbury Police Department responded to the 300 block of Hazel Ave for a reported Home Invasion & Robbery.

On arrival, officers met with the Hispanic victims who advised that three unknown black males entered into their residence through an unlocked side door. All three suspects were in possession of some type of long gun. The suspects demanded money and one of the victims was struck in the face with the butt of the firearm knocking the victim to the floor. The suspects were able to take an undetermined amount of currency from the victims before fleeing from the residence.

The suspects are described as follows:

Suspect #1: black male, thin build, approximately 30-35yoa, approximately 6’3hgt, and wearing an orange shirt.

Suspect #2: black male, medium build, approximately 25-30yoa, approximately 5’8hgt and wearing a white tee shirt.

Suspect #3: black male, thin build, approximately 30yoa, approximately 5’8hgt, and wearing a black tee shirt.

The suspects were also seen entering into a black SUV, either a Lincoln or Ford type vehicle.

kwame brown? He was the worst draft choice ever for the Bullets - oops, I mean Wizards. And we can thank the indominable skills of Michael Jordan for that - lol

Chalk one up for a quick acting SPD office. This officer was looking death in the eye. God Bless you sir!
