Salisbury’s Animal control Officers ask that you please leave your pets at home while running errands or making quick trips to places that doesn’t allow pets.
On hot days as we are currently experiencing or on a warm day that may seem comfortable to us, the temperature in a parked car can reach levels that can endanger your pet. The interior temperature can easily rise to 120 degrees in a matter of minutes, even with the windows partially open. Because a dog can only attempt to cool itself by panting and sweating through its paws, it can succumb to high temperatures in a very short time. Lasting effects of exposure to high temperatures can include heat stroke brain damage or death.

They just had a program on the weather channel about this. The temp in a car can climb to 120 degrees very quickly inside a vehicle. Already this year 15 children have died as a result of being left in a vehicle with 7 of those happening just this week. It is dangerous and cannot be taken back once it is done. If you leave your child in a vehicle and they die, YOU killed your child or pet.
