Incident: Leaving the Scene of an Accident
Date of Incident: 30 December 2009
Location: 1800 block of Mt. Hermon Road, Salisbury, MD
Suspect: Daniel Lee Nelson, 46, Salisbury, MD


Narrative: On 30 December 2009 at 1036 AM, a deputy from the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office responded to the report of a hit and run accident. Upon arrival to the scene, the deputy observed that an unknown individual had driven across the victim’s property mowing down trees. Upon examining the scene, the deputy located what the deputy recognized as pieces of a plastic bug shield. The deputy checked the rest of the neighborhood following the apparent path of the offending vehicle. The deputy located a vehicle in the 1700 block of Crestwood Circle that was missing part of its bug shield. Upon comparing the pieces recovered at the scene with this shield it was evident they were from the same shield.



The deputy made contact with the operator of the vehicle, Daniel Lee Nelson, at the residence. When questioned about the incident, Nelson admitted to running off the road and destroying the trees. The deputy placed Nelson under arrest and transported him to the Central Booking Unit where he was processed and taken in front of the District Court Commissioner. After an initial appearance, Nelson was released by the Commissioner on Personal Recognizance.


Charges: Leaving the Scene of a Property damage Accident



Incident: Assault
Date of Incident: 1 January 2010
Location: 1000 block of Beaglin Park Drive, Salisbury, MD
Suspect: Wade Hill, 36, Salisbury, MD


Narrative: On 1 January 2010 at 6:16 PM, a deputy from the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence in the 1000 block of Beaglin Park Drive for a reported altercation. Upon arrival, the deputy met with a female subject who advised that she was involved in an altercation with a cohabitant, Wade Hill that turned physical. Hill reportedly threw a pan of hamburger helper in the sink and pushed the female to the floor. During the altercation, Hill allegedly struck the victim in the eye. While on scene, the deputy observed injuries consistent with the victim’s account.



The deputy placed Hill under arrest and transported him to the Central Booking Unit where he was processed and taken in front of the District Court Commissioner. After an initial appearance, the Commissioner released Hill on Personal Recognizance.

Incident: Assault
Date of Incident: 2 January 2010
Location: 500 block of N. Curlew Road, Salisbury, MD
Suspect: Vaughn M. Parker, 35, Salisbury, MD


Narrative: On 2 January 2010 at 1:02 PM, a deputy from the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office responded to investigate an altercation reportedly occurring inside a residence in the 500 block of N. Curlew Rd. Upon arrival, the deputy met with a female subject who advised that she was involved in an argument with Vaughn Parker when that argument turned physical. The victim stated that when she tried to walk away, Vaughn pushed her into the wall. The argument continued as the pair moved into another room at which point Vaughn allegedly pushed the victim over a table. It was at this point the couple’s daughter attempted to intervene at which point Vaughn is accused of punching her repeatedly in her face. The deputy observed injuries on the victims consistent with their accounts.



The deputy placed Vaughn under arrest and transported him to the Central Booking Unit where he was processed and taken in front of the District Court Commissioner. After an initial appearance, the Commissioner detained Vaughn in the Detention Center in lieu of $50,000.00 bond.

Incident: Possession of a Handgun
Date of Incident: 3 January 2010
Location: U.S 13 , Salisbury, MD
Suspect: Toriano A. Brown, 29, Charleston, SC


Narrative: On 3 January 2010 at 11:58 PM, a deputy from the Wicomico County sheriff’s Office stopped a vehicle operated by Toriano Brown on the U.S. 13 by-pass in the area of exit for Rt. 50 east. During the encounter with Brown, the deputy discovered a loaded .44 revolver in the center console of the vehicle. The deputy placed Brown under arrest for the handgun which was within easy reach of Brown.



The deputy transported Brown to the Central Booking Unit where he was processed and taken in front of the District Court Commissioner. After an initial appearance, the Commissioner detained Brown in the detention center in lieu of $10,000.00 bond.

Hey Joe, I know that this doesn't belong here, but I figured I'd pass on the news. Wicomico County just launched it's re-designed website this morning....finally! This website has been in the works (and essentially completed) for over a year now! I wouldn't say that it is super great, but I must say it is certainly an improvement over the previous design! Hamburger helper ... you can only take so much of that stuff, though, you know ?

Also how does one discover a loaded gun in the center console unless of course you decided he was from South Carolina and you had the right to force him out of his car and search it. If he were criminal he would have shot you.
