BREAKING NEWS: Man Falls Overboard Into River

This just in. Salisbury News has been informed the SPD & SFD are on the scene where a man fell overboard into the river. This would be near Isabella Street and the river.

We're told it took 5 pieces of equipment to rescue him out of the water. They used the Ladder Truck to get him out and 4 other pieces to support the Ladder Truck in what some might call, engineering.

Shame they don't have a million dollar boat to fish him out.

Man that sucks. Glad he's safe. I fell in while fishing on the dam during the spring myself. Made for a funny fishing story

They will soon have that 1 mil boat... And the reason why they said they want all trucks at station 16 to go on all calls no matter who's district is becasue, is it makes them look like there doing something with their time and can continue to get that money for more useless toys...

this is a joke right? How could someone tread water that long but cant swim to shore? Ok, ok...lets say its an area there with rotten slimy chit soaked bulkheading and he couldnt climb up....they couldnt drop a $100 hook ladder over the side? Throw a rope and pull him out? Something stinks here and its not just the river!

All he had to do was stand up.

This is hilarious! The Rube Goldberg Award for water rescues! I really have to wonder what the Ocean City Lifeguards are toasting to and laughing at right now!

NO, they did save his life. There are all kinds of turds in that water and if it weren't for the heroic fast thinking of the SFD, this man could have died.

In fact, they should have brought in HAZMAT and washed the man down to assure he doesn't come down with some kind of disease.

Look, rescuing someone and saving a life are two different things. A young whippersnapper Firefighter must have made the dave the life comment.

He was drunk probably.

I guess they had to make the rescue with Ladder 16 because nobody else wanted to dive into the turd basin for fear of their own lives! I'd have to agree with the decision.

Are you people really this pathetic? If it was you or your family members that needed help I'm sure you wouldn't be complaining.

Hey Bozo, I mean 4:28 PM they didn't save anyone's life. it isn't even knee deep there dumb@ss.

And 5:18 PM here we go again with the pathetic comment "if it was your family members..."

What a bunch of wannabe hero's. Get a life!

Firemen:

When people in your community dislike you and the job you do and the department you work it is telling you something.

You get NO RESPECT. Why? Because you don't have the gonads to get rid of the idiots running the department.

We think YOU should all MAN UP and DEMAND better management. If you can't control the management you should go public and request help from the people. FORCE change in that pathetic department. FORCE the criminals out.

Or stand there looking stupid and suffer the consequences of disrespect.

The people have spoken very clearly. We do not respect the Salisbury Fire Department. It is a disgrace.

Ditto for the Salisbury Police Department.

Here is a case where they could have at least responded the boat they have and didn't do it. What are they going to do when they get the new boat ? Just let it sit and look pretty.

Keep in mind, they were clearing another scene on Northwood Dr. (accident with rescue) on their way back to the firehouse, and this incident occured. This is right next to the firehouse. The number of vehicles might not have been their typical response to this type of incident. Also, it was dispatched as a water rescue, with no details, who knows what they would have run into...

I agree with you, but the Career Firefighters Association and did this by supporting and endorsing Jim Ireton for Mayor. He promised us Help was on the Way! He lied. If that two faced moron thinks putting president of the union on the so called selection panel for the fire chief he is sadly mistaken. This blog and the endorsement of the firefighters union helped get Ireton elected. I think this same pair could get him recalled as well. Where do we start!
