Weenies Calls It Quits

The new Hot Dog Specialty Shop on Rt. 13 is calling it quits. It's tough to compete with a Nathan's Hot Dog and a huge Soda for $1.81 at Sam's Club.

I know they're claiming they're leaving to go back to New Hampshire to tend to a business they own there, I feel for them. However, Sam's is the bomb for a fantastic Hot Dog and we wish them the best back up North.

Wow how long were they open. Not a very good location.

I wanted to try them out but if I'm that far north I just go ahead to Sam's. It's a shame they didn't last long. I've heard good things about them. Good Luck!

Excellent folks with a great product. In my opinion, Nathan's
takes a back seat to Sabrett's dogs and at $2.29 a great deal for a sub all beef dog.
Eat there at least once a week, sorry to see them leave.
Walmart / Sams knocks out another
Ma & Pa shop!

its a real shame to hear that. i hear all about your sams club dogs but who wants to get a sams membership just to get a hotdog? lol
salisbury stinks at supporting its local businesses.

I hate to hear about any business failing no matter how small. As a person who owns a small business..no one knows how hard it is unless they've done it.

sorry that people are getting the wrong story! We are not closing this location. We are trying to sell this one vey cheap to keep it alive in Salisbury. We ARE going to NH to put one of these in our empty building so that it will sell. We have a beautifull new bldg on 4+ acres in the scenic White Mts. We thought we had it sold but it fell through. After we sel NH, we are heading back south. We don't want to just close this one, because we have built a nice little business here Anyone interested, 17,500.00 gets you the whole deal. A great, great buy. This is from Suzanne and Frank, the owners of Weenies. See everyone soon!

I crave a dog on my way back from work & they always are closed after lunch! Plus they only take cash & that sux. If they stayed open later and toke visa they would of got more business.

I really like this place - in spite of Wally's - support your local shops. I'll keep going till the sign says closed.

RuebenDog - with spicy mustard....forever!

Sam's/Wal-Mart continues to devastate local business.

terrible location- no drive thru. why bother?

To blame walmart or sams for a new business failing is ignorant. Walmart and sam's have been open in salisbury for years. New businesses know this when they choose to open. I worked in restaurants for 20 years and I can tell you from experience what the problems were/are with this business. First off, location. Not easy to get in and out of the parking lot if you are in a mid to full size vehicle. No seating in the building. No drive through window (that would work better with the crapmped parking lot). And the product, while the hot dogs were not bad, the massive roll they were served on killed the taste of the hotdog. Way too much bread. I wish them well and hope they make better choices in their new home.

How much are they selling the business for?

I noticed you got rid of the big tree outback. Hopefully allowing for parking. Getting in and out has always been a problem with that building.
Maybe put out a SBYNEWS discount or mealdeal and see just how many use it...?
ps. NH - wow, so beautiful there

We tried it and although they were very nice people we thought it was to much bread and not enough dog.
Would have liked to had the option of a standard bun.

They are selling the business, not closing it.

Any takers?

Be nice to keep SOMETHING local alive.

Actually, getting a Sam's Club membership to eat at their cafe isn't required. If you walk in and tell the person that you're just there for the Cafe and they watch you walk to it, they dont give you any trouble and you can enjoy all of the food there. Don't abuse their generosity by taking it upon yourself to stroll around the store though!

They changed their buns a few weeks ago to one that was of a more suitable size. Also, I always got the double dog option for an extra buck. Still an awesome value!

It was in a bad location i agree, but the dogs were amazing

Hot dogs are horrendous for u...a leading cause of stomac cancer

12:36 You're right. Dogs are fat, sugar, and salt.

salisbury should be lucky to have a sam's club/wal-mart...with unemployment there the way it is it keeps people working in an area of the state that is poor...and when a red lobster is the best place to eat seafood in that town you all wouldn't know what good places to eat consist of anyway. you all think applebees is fine dining! LMAO
