CITY HALL

The Fruitland City Council met in regular session on Tuesday evening, September 8, 2009 in the City Council Chambers. Some of the items discussed and acted upon were the public hearing for Ordinance 236-Property Upkeep, City of Fruitland Debt Policy, schematic drawing for the new Police Department building, truck traffic on South Division and a re-subdivision on Leslie Street that was approved. Minutes of the City Council meeting will be available when complete.

Our sincere prayers and condolences are extended to the family of long time resident and business owner J.R. Rains, who passed on Thursday (10th). J.R. will be remembered for his time and dedication to our City as a former Councilman and Planning Commission member. He will be deeply missed by all.

RECREATION COMMISSION

The Fruitland Recreation Commission will meet in regular session on Tuesday, September 15, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. in the City Council Chambers. Please mark your calendars and plan on attending. Reminder, we are still without a chairman.

FRUITLAND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION

The Fruitland Economic Development Commission will meet on Tuesday, September 15, 2009 at noon at Adam’s Ribs. The speaker for the meeting will be Jan Wiseman, Executive Director for the Greater Salisbury Committee.

PUBLIC UTILITIES

The Maryland Board of Public Works should take action this month upon our sanitary sewer pipeline rehabilitation project.

Water service disconnects for non-payment were performed this week. The majority of these should be returned to service by the close of business day, Friday, September 11, 2009.
