PUT YOUR FAITH IN CONGRESS

When you decide to oppose or support Cap & Trade or Obamacare one should consider the role played by Congress in energy. Congress went to work on energy in 1970 and is still working at it. I would like you to consider a few of their actions. -

Emergency Petroleum Allocation Act of 1973
The aim of this legislation was to ensure equitable distribution of available product, to establish equitable prices and to preserve the independent segments of the industry.
Industry action/reaction
Growth in domestic production and exploration was curtailed. Small inefficient refineries were made profitable for that short time span.

Energy Policy and Conservation Act of 1975
The act was designed to increase production through price incentives. It established a two tier system of pricing, among other less important things.
Industry Action/Reaction
The p[program actually served as an incentive to oil companies to increase purchases of imported crude oil. We now have about 400,000 capped oil wells in this country, taken out of production thanks to congress.

Department of Energy Organization Act of 1977
The creation of the U. S. Department of Energy (DOE) consolidated the functions of several agencies into one Cabinet- Level organization.

WE ALL KNOW HOW WELL THAT IS WORKING

I can assume all these agencies remain staffed and are collecting money to this day???

That is not the worst part. How many trillions of dollars have gone to dictators all over the world for oil that lies under our land or just offshore? How many jobs were lost to foreign countries because congress is just too stupid to drill baby drill?
There are those that believe a magic wand will be waved and we will no longer depend on fossil fuel. If tommorow a car was invented that could run on air, it takes eighteen years to turn over the fleet of autos.
