CHAD ERNEST SPICER
August 23, 1980 – September 1, 2009
Patrolman Chad Spicer joined the Georgetown Police Department on September 2, 2008.
Prior to joining Georgetown, Officer Spicer had work for the Laurel Police Department (June 17, 2008 – August 24, 2008); Bridgeville Police Department (March 1, 2004 – June 15, 2008); and the Delaware Department of Corrections (2000 to 2004).
Officer Spicer was a native of Georgetown having graduated from Sussex Central High School, and Delaware Technical and Community College in 1999.
Officer Spicer was tragically killed in the line of duty on Tuesday, September 1, 2009 during a traffic stop. Chad was an outstanding police officer and will be sorely missed by his family, friends and his fellow officers.
Officer Spicer is survived by his parents Norman and Ruth Ann Spicer of Georgetown, and a three (3) year old daughter, Aubrey.

Cpl. Shawn Brittingham
SHAWN M. BRITTINGHAM
Corporal Shawn Brittingham has been employed with the Georgetown Police Department since February of 2003.
Corporal Brittingham is currently assigned to Patrol where he is responsible, along with other patrol officers, for a long list of duties including, but not limited to, responding to emergency calls for service and enforcing the criminal and traffic laws of the State of Delaware.
Corporal Brittingham is Georgetown Police Department's K-9 Officer, a position that he has held since July of 2005. In addition to being a K-9 Officer Corporal Brittingham is a member of the Georgetown Police Department's Emergency Response Team and is a shift supervisor.
Corporal Brittingham and his wife, Melissa and one (1) year old daughter, Olivia, reside in Millsboro, Delaware.

It the Maryland Courts would have done their job this officer might be alive today. Maryland the liberal state is soft on criminals. This guy had two warrants for his arrest and and he was still on the streets.

This kid was a great cop. He had no fear and did what he loved to do. I met him one night when i was traveling a bit over the speed limit in Bridgeville. I thought due to his no nonsense attitude I was surely going to get a ticket. After a brief conversation he stated he was giving me a warning. He told me of the major drug arrest he had made on Rt. 13.
I still can hear him saying "I am living a dream". This is what I wanted to do all my life. He praised the Troopers that backed him up at night and had nothing but good to say about his profession. This motivated hard charger was a credit to his creed.
If there were more Chad Spicers in the world we would not need police.
It is sad that Delaware did away with hanging. I would be happy to pull the lever on these thugs that have no regaurd for human life. No respect for the laws of the land.
Rest in peace brother. May God grant your family peace in such troubling times.
I will pray for the swift aprehention of the murderous coward Reeves.
To anon 11:33 it's not just the maryland court system. It's all over the country. These people need to be either killed or never see the light of day again. This country as a whole continues to baby these people and make excuses to let them go. It makes me sick. Rest in piece chad and thank you for your service. I truly hope justice is served on the people who did this to you.
