Here is a more descriptive story...
State police detail in court records the last moments of Georgetown Police Officer Chad Spicer’s life.
About 6:42 p.m., when a 911 call came in about a shooting in the parking lot of a McDonald’s restaurant on U.S. 113, a general broadcast was issued describing a silver Dodge Stratus with tinted windows seen fleeing the shooting scene.
Georgetown Officers Shawn Brittingham and Chad Spicer, on patrol in the area, spotted the car in the area of the Circle in Georgetown and attempted to stop it.
The vehicle, later found to be a Chrysler Sebring, sped off with Christopher Reeves at the wheel.
The two officers pursued the car to East Market Street and then onto North King Street.
The car quickly stopped in the area of North King and Rosa streets in the Kimmeytown neighborhood, where the police cruiser pulled up alongside the suspects’ car.
The passenger side of the police car, where Spicer was seated, was next to the driver’s side of the suspects’ car, where Reeves was seated.
At that point, Reeves got out of the car and ran off.
Sitting in the rear passenger seat behind Reeves was Derrick J. Powell.
He fired a handgun at the police cruiser, according to court records.
The bullet from the handgun entered the police cruiser and hit Spicer’s lower right cheek and exited below his left ear.
A fragment of the bullet struck Brittingham in the neck, wounding him.
After the shooting, Powell got out of the car and ran toward Savannah Road, where he ran into a resident’s home.
The third man in the car, identified in court records as Luis Flores, was sitting in the rear seat passenger side.
He got out of the car and tried to render aid to the mortally wounded officer, police said in court records.
Spicer was taken to Beebe Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Brittingham, who was also taken to Beebe Hospital, was treated for an abrasion and contusion to the neck.
Police officers, meanwhile, converged on the area searching for Reeves and Powell.
Powell, who was in possession of a 9 mm semi-automatic pistol, was captured inside the home where he sought refuge.
the only thing that keeps going through my head is "its a damn (sorry, Joe) shame" It IS a damn shame. My god, what have we become? R.I.P. Officer Spicer and may God welcome you with loving and open arms. Your daughter will be well taken care of, you can be assured of that. My heart just aches. It is Eddie Plank all over again. It's a damn shame.
Those thugs should be taken to the edge of a river and shot.
A special thanks to our guarding angel. We forget sometimes that it is the brave men like you who help protect our freedom. Thank you my friend and may you rest in peace.
This thug came from the place where Plank's killer (Ivan Lovell) currently rots! (Cumberland, MD)

Interesting that the 3rd guy went to the officers aid. Would have been very easy to just run.
Please , if you find this guy , just shoot him and save us some money.
2:25 Moment of clarity. Suspect he realized the severity of the situation.
2:25, He had to make moral judgement right then at that split second.
Mr Flores is probably the reason we know who was driving...It's very sad for Patrolman Spicer, god be with him.
MAy god be with the families and friends and coworkers,I knew this officer from when he worked in laurel he was a great guy and always willing to check on us at the store i was a manger at. I hope they find this guy before he harms someone else, All i can think is this young guy still had a long life ahead of him and because of some young punk his life was taken, RIP and may god bless each and everyone of our officers and families involed

I am confused as the one that fired the shot is the one they have arrested...the Reeves guy they are looking for was the driver and then fled...the shooter is the one that has been charged with first degree murder.
anon 405. so we should go ahead and let him go right? go ahead and stayed confused and collect your food stamps
The shooter was arrested. Christopher Reeves was the driver - not the shooter. He should turn himself in.
405 - correct... they got the shooter... still looking for the driver

FYI I make a 6 digit income I hardly doubt that I qualify for food stamps...I was stating facts about the case. My Dad retired from the State Police after 30+ years so I can assure you letting him go did not cross my mind!! FOOD STAMPS HA GET A LIFE!
Just get a rope and tree, save tax payers and honest people some money. These thugs have no value for anyones life. We should extend them the same courtesy.
